Upgrading from previous Robocomm Releases
-----------------------------------------
To quickly upgrade from Robocomm version 1.0, 1.05 or 1.06, simply
unZIP the contents of the ROBO20-A.ZIP and ROBO20-B.ZIP files into
your existing Robocomm subdirectory. When PKUNZIP prompts you to
overwrite a file, answer yes each time. You will not loose any data
during the upgrade procedure.
NOTE: If you have altered any of Robocomm's file transfer batch
files (ROBOR?.BAT and ROBOS?.BAT) you do not need to
overwrite those files with the new ones. Your old files will
work fine with this new version. These files are the only
exceptions. Overwrite all others as prompted by PKUNZIP.
Next, make sure that your CONFIG.SYS file contains a line enabling a
FILES setting of 39 or more. Note, this is a CHANGE from previous
version of Robocomm.
Next, make sure that you add you Robocomm directory to your DOS
search PATH. This is essential if you want Robocomm's new auto-Puma
and auto-Zmodem downloads to work.
If you have made any changes in your CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT
files, re-boot your computer before starting Robocomm.
Now start Robocomm. An automatic upgrade procedure will convert
your old databases to the new format.
Your old databases will be renamed. After you have verified that
the upgrade was performed properly, you may delete OLD*.DB* from
your Robocomm directory.
ROBOCOMM.HST summarizes all the work that has gone on during the long
trek from 1.05 to 2.0. It's a good way to get clued in to all the new
changes if you're a veteran Robocomm user.
Have Fun!
If you have any problems with upgrading to the new version, please
contact the Robocomm support BBS at (213) 556-3894 or leave a
message to DAN PARSONS in the ROBOCOMM conference on an Interlink,
Smartnet, RIME or Metrolink BBS near you.
