~16 CD PACK Vol.1
CD-ROM interactive Collection Volume 1.
Released under the Kixx label for a penny short of 50 quid.
A quick review.
This package contains 16 CD-ROM titles at the price of one !!
What a bargain ! Well yes it is, especially if you've just gone
and bought yourself a new PC with CD-ROM, and want to start of
your CD collection. It's got something for everybody.
It contains 16 titles on 10 CD's and cover six different areas of
computing; Reference, Sport, Games, Creative, Recreation and Utility.
The software titles are The Animals, World Atlas, Space Encyclopedia,
World Cup '94, Winter Olympics, Links, Thunderhawk, Curse of
Enchantia, James Pond 2 : Robocod, Out Run, Print & Paint Power,
It's All Relative, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Madonna, & Johnny
Castaway Screen Saver.
The Animals - This is a MPC package giving you a guided video tour
of San Diego Zoo.
World Atlas - Software Toolworks multimedia look the world, full of
information...
Space Encyclopedia - Interactive enclopedia presented by Patrick
Moore.
World Cup '94 - Released by US Gold prior to last years World Cup,
not the best of the footy games to have been released but better
than most.
Winter Olympics - Officially licensed game released from US Gold.
Brings a collection of Winter sports to the PC, with adequate
graphics and sound, but lasting gameplay will soon wear off. Not
as good as Winter Games, but again it helps to boost the quality
of this package.
Links - The golf game that started it all off. Released way back
in 1991 and can still boast greater gameplay than most golf games
available today. Ok, it doesn't have the high-end graphics and
sound but the gameplay is spot on.... A good substitute if you
don't need great graphics and sound but need gameplay. A great
classic game.
Thunderhawk - There had to be a flight sim in here somewhere,
shame it wasn't one of good quality. No way does this game match
any of todays games, but in three years, we've seen a lot of change.
Curse Of Enchantia - An old but great graphic point/click adventure.
James Pond 2 : Robocod - A great console conversion. Platform game
which showed people that the PC can be a great arcade machine, rather
than a simulator !!
Out Run - Probably the oldest title of the package, hittin the
arcades back in 1986 and then converted by SEGA to the PC in the
early 90's. An arcade racing game that can really only be played
on low-end machines due to it's fast action, that when played on
anything above a 386 SX 33 would be TOO FAST !!! A classic title...
Print & Paint Package - A painting package containing over 100
ready made clip arts.
It's All Relative - Video comedy routines from over 50 comedians.
Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, & Madonna - Three multimedia packages
containing video clips (I think, as I didn't look at these !!).
Johnny Castaway - A screen saver for Windows.
Also included in the package are over 60 demos of other software
titles currently available.
Well there's a quick run down of whats on offer, now to conclude.
At least one RPG game in this package would have made this package
an ultimate bundle to buy to start you off in the multimedia world.
Other than that a good package well worth 50 quid, that's five pound
a CD. So any CD's you don't want from the package, I'm sure you
could sell for more than a fiver !!
Necomers to the PC & CD-ROM, a great package to purchase to start you
off....
