Name: rotz - Rotates and restarts log files
Version: 2.0
Author(s): Matt Segur <msegur@colorado.edu>
Version 1.2:
Michael Bernstein <bernstei@cs.colorado.edu>
On the CD-ROM in: sysadm/rotz.tar
Ftp source: N/A
Size on the CD: 20 KB (uncompressed)
Description:
rotz is a PERL script that is used to rotate and compress log files. It
keeps number versions of file in compressed format. Some programs keep
open file descriptors to their log files and must be sent a signal to
restart them. Optionally, if pid is specified, rotz will send signal (if
specified) or HUP to the process identified by pid. The permissions and
ownership of the new file are identical to those of the original file.
