Q: How can one determine whether SIMMs are page mode or nibble mode?\

A: The part numbers on the chips are different. Look for 51100

\i0 , where
\i x
\i0 is replaced by either a 0 or a 1. 1 indicates nibble mode, 0 is for page mode.\
\
Caveat: there may be some chips which don't follow this specification.\
\
Note: this is for 1MB SIMMs.\
