  28. First off I'm only taking time to respond to this because you wrote to me
  29. directly.  Otherwise I would have completely ignored you.

  31. If you're on alt.barney.die.die.die you should have enough brains to
  32. realize that there are a lot of people who dislike Barney.  Some people
  33. express their disklike through humor, other through serious writing.  But
  34. all feel the same way.  They feel that Barney is a poor tutor for children.

  36. They find the hypnotic effect of his repetitive lyrics, often re-written
  37. version of other songs, to be a destructive influence on children.  The
  38. feel that he makes for of a fad of environmental awareness then he does of
  39. teaching children what it really means to care about the environment.

  41. Children have been known to sit for hours watching Barney.  Just sitting
  42. there, eyes glazed as they watch him.  Others run around all day singing,
  43. "I love you, you love me...." ten or more times a day.
  44.  
  45. As far as being an adult and watching Barney, I have several responses. 
  46. First, I am a write and I write primarily scripts for animated television
  47. programs.  I have spent some time studying how television programming can
  48. be both beneficial and damaging to children.  I know whereof I speak. 
  49. Second, you see thousands of parents in American groups such as Concerned
  50. Citizens for Television, or what have you.   
  51.  
  52. Quite frankly I have a life.  I have a concern for what children watch,
  53. and I find Barney to be a horrible way to ween children.  I choose to
  54. express that both seriously and humurously, in print and in my commentary
  55. to others.

  57. I suggest that you get a little more validation for you commentary before
  58. you write to someone again.

  60. P.S. You might also want to remember that on the Net, ALL CAPS is usually
  61. limited to expressions intended to be emphasized.
