W2.EXE (c) 1993, Karim Khan
v. 2.0
This new version is for those who like using WOWII but wish it had a menuing
system. All directions are explained upon execution of W2. This is a simple
program that leaves enough memory free to play nearly every MOD.
W2 plays MODs only from ARJ files - like Modplay, but it doesn't take
a million years to check each archive. So, make sure that in your MOD direct-
ory all your ARJed files are MODs. This shouldn't be a problem, because W2 is
designed to allow you to play MODs in other directories. WOWII.EXE should be
in the same directory as your MODs. Also, remember that a mod named
AXEL-F.MOD must be archived with exactly the same spelling, AXEL-F.ARJ.
Finally, you ask, why do I support WOWII as a player? There is not a
single other player out there with better sound quality, at least in stereo.
I think that Visual Player looks a little prettier, but the quality is fairly
poor. Another good thing about WOWII is that running memory managers and NDOS
doesn't seem to bother it or worsen the sound.
Revisions from version 1.1:
- (BIG) Finally the selection bar appears in the middle of the screen. Sorry it
took me so long to fix that.
- The ARJ file automatically writes over the existing MOD so it doesn't
seem to "freeze" the program.
- The screen clears before playing the MOD (just a little A.R. touch).
- (BIG) Now when you finish playing the MOD and come back to the menu the bar
starts on the MOD you just played.
W2 creates two .DAT files for its own purposes when you first run it. Also,
you must have a WOWII.INI file configured. If you don't, you will be using
all the default parameters of WOWII. Consult the documentation for more about
WOWII.INI.

PS-W2 was written in QuickBasic. I'll admit, it's not that quick, but for
small projects like this I would encourage anybody to use it.
