  8.         This electronic version was made possible through a personal
  9.         arrangement with the Managing Editor of Imprimis and the
  10.         President of Applied Foresight, Inc. (R.H. Martin) who packages
  11.         and distributes this electronic version of Imprimis as a
  12.         charitable free-of-charge service.  Address: Applied Foresight,

  16.              Applied Foresight, Inc. also publishes ShareDebate
  17.         International (ISSN 1054-0695), a diskette-magazine. Formerly a
  18.         shareware semi-annual magazine, it is now copyrighted freeware
  19.         ever since the double-disk issue #7-8.  Between 550 to 1,450 listed
  20.         Bulletin Boards  (BBSs) or Shareware dealers in 25 countries
  21.         distribute the magazine.  It is an international debate forum--
  22.         over 25 debate topics now--for computer users concerned about the
  23.         present and the future, carrying non-fiction & fiction, original
  24.         and reprints.

  26.              Past issues have featured Ben Bova (President, SF Writers
  27.         of America; former editor of OMNI & Analog; former President,
  28.         National Space Society); George Gilder (author & regular
  29.         contributor to Forbes, Wall Street Journal & the National
  30.         Review); Nobel laureate Milton Friedman; GEnie management;

  46.              As a convenience to those without modems or to those with
  47.         modems who don't want to download nearly 2MB of existing
  48.         magazines, back issues are available on diskette.  The content is
  49.         freeware but diskettes, postage, packaging, and handling isn't.
  50.         To get it free one has to obtain it from the multitude of no-
  51.         charge BBSs that carry it.  Around 1,500 distributors exist 
  52.         worldwide but the most common places are any SDN BBS (there are 
  53.         about 400 SDN BBSs worldwide); any BBS that carries the latest 
  54.         PC-SIG CD ROM (disk #s 2121, 2260, 2390, 2749, 2750, 2753);  BIX 
  55.         (IBM.UTILS filearea); or GEnie (IBMPC RT Applications library). 
  56.         Search for the filename pattern, DBATE*.*.  As of this date, all 
  57.         of these carry the existing 8 issues.  PC-SIG has or will shortly 
  58.         release issues 7-8.  If you use Internet, you can obtain the files 
  59.         through anonymous ftp access from wuarchive.wustl.edu from the 
  60.         directory /archive/doc/publications/ShareDebate.  Login as 
  61.         'anonymous' and your complete e-mail address as your password.  A 
  62.         complete ftp sample script is available from Applied Foresight.

  64.              Special back-issue deal for owners of an IBM PC/compatible
  65.         or Macintosh (who MUST have be able to read 1.44 MB diskettes).  
  66.         Reference this filename and where you obtained it, and for $10, 
  67.         you will get the 8 existing issues of ShareDebate International.  
  68.         Indicate the highest capacity diskette you can take and whether 
  69.         you have a hard disk or not.  Canadians, add $2; International 
  70.         orders, add $5.  Pay in US $ against a US bank.  Visa/MC accepted 
  71.         (include expiration date & name as it appears on the card).  MN 
  72.         residents add 6.5 % sales tax.  2 to 6 weeks delivery time.

  75.         diskette because Mac users are actually serviced on an IBM

  80.         1992, so there are only the 1990, 1991 & 1993 issues available.

  88.                            FREEWARE VERSION OF IMPRIMIS

  91.            Redistribution of Imprimis, On Line is encouraged.  Please do
  92.         share it with your friends, upload it to bulletin board systems,
  93.         etc.  However, as this magazine is made available for you free of
  94.         charge, that does not mean that it is free of usage restrictions.
  95.         What follows is the current license to distribute and use it.
  96.         
  97.            Although Imprimis, On Line is copyright-protected, it is
  98.         freeware and you may distribute issues of the magazine freely on
  99.         a non-exclusive basis without additional written permission as
  100.         long as you abide by all of the following restrictions:

  102.            The program shall be supplied in its original, unmodified
  103.         form, which includes this documentation. A few minor deviations
  104.         are allowed:
  105.         
  106.             You are permitted to add a standard "header" file or (in the
  107.         case of a BBS archive distribution) a standard "header" archive
  108.         comment which limits itself to (a) a short ad for your company
  109.         and/or (b) a standard get-started file used with all of your
  110.         distributions.
  111.         
  112.             You are permitted to use high density diskettes and to
  113.         include more than one issue of Imprimis, On Line per diskette.
  114.         
  115.             If you use diskettes to distribute your offerings, you are
  116.         permitted to bundle Imprimis, On Line issues on the same
  117.         diskette(s) that contain material made by others only if you
  118.         include a "read.me" file that explains that the other files on
  119.         the diskette are unrelated to and unknown to Imprimis and
  120.         Hillsdale College.

  122.             No fee may be charged for the magazine content, although you
  123.         may charge whatever fee you want for the blank diskette,
  124.         formatting, copying, packaging, BBS-general-access charges,
  125.         distribution and mailing involved.  It must be obvious to the
  126.         customer that they are not being charged for the magazine, but
  127.         rather for the above handling/shipping costs.

  129.             Unless you have personalized written permission from Applied
  130.         Foresight, Inc. (AFI hereafter), Imprimis or Hillsdale College
  131.         (Imprimis hereafter), you may not assert that (a) you have made
  132.         special arrangements with AFI or Imprimis to distribute this file
  133.         or (b) that AFI or Imprimis endorses your organization or any
  134.         other product that you're involved with.
  135.         
  136.             You're not required to, but we request that if you distribute
  137.         Imprimis, On Line, to please provide AFI with your full address
  138.         and if you can afford it, material showing how you "carry"
  139.         Imprimis, On Line (diskette copy, brochure, catalog, or print-
  140.         screens in the case of a BBS).  There is no need for (a) those
  141.         BBSs to whom R.H. Martin or AFI upload to, and (b) to those BBSs
  142.         who carry SDN shareware.

  144.             This distribution license only applies to the AFI-produced
  145.         freeware version of Imprimis.  Contact Hillsdale College for
  146.         information about distributing copies of the free paper version
