buttonFile
by Tony Curro
Keeping track of names, addresses, and almost any kind of data just
got easier. ButtonWare has released buttonFile for Windows. All
users will be up and running instantly. There is NO learning curve
with this program. You do not even need the manual. It IS that easy
to use.
Once started, you can select from any of over a dozen templates, to
quickly start entering data. Templates you can choose from: Book or
Music Library, Credit Cards, Home Inventory, Mailing List, Recipes,
Software or Video Library, Rolodex or Business Cards and more. You
can design a deck based on a template, or create your own. Creation
or editing is very easily done.
I found the Software Library deck very useful. How many of you have
registration information for all your products on hand? Using this
deck you enter the information in buttonFile and always have it at
your fingertips. The program allows you to print your data on over
100 pre-defined and customizable forms. Print lists, mailing labels,
3x5 cards, envelopes, Avery Dennsion labels and forms, and others.
buttonFile has full TrueType support, and supports Multiple Document
Interface (MDI) which allows you to have multiple card files open at
the same time.
Import and Export from many popular software formats: dBase, ASCII
(comma delimited), WordPerfect merge, Windows Cardfile, PC-File and
TakeNote. Use Password Protection and encryption, auto-dial any
phone number stored on a card or sort data in any preferred order.
Using index buttons browse through data quickly.
buttonFile will render database programs obsolete for many users.
Those who want to keep simple names and address or lists, and get
confused by macros and queries, will feel right at home with
buttonFile. You do not have to learn or know anything. Jim Button
has made it as simple as it can get. The only way it could be easier
is if you were to have someone enter the data for you. The price is
also very attractive, and should please those on a budget. It proves
that quality software does not have to have a premium price tag.
If you use Windows and your store any kind of data, but find a full
database too much, look into buttonFile. It is easy, yet powerful. A
LAN version should be available by the time you read this review.
