worry, and had a few homebrews.<g>
BTW, my recipe was:

1 lbs American Dark Malt Extract
1 lb Crystal Malt
1/4 lb Black Patent
1/4 lb Roasted Barley
1 cup brown sugar
1 Cup Molasses
8 ozs Bakers Chocolate
2 inches brewers licorice
1 packet liquid yeast (London)
Primed with 1 1/2 cups American DME
sg: 1.052
fg: 1.017ish

Robin (and all),
In the interest of science(?) we decided to do a jalepeno beer.
Ingredients:
3.3 Pounds of Glenbrew Light Extract
3.3 Pounds of John Bull Amber (Unhopped) Malt Extract
1/2 Pound of Crystal Malt
1/2 Pound Dark Dry Malt
10 Chopped Jalapenos (w/ seeds)
2 Ounces Cascade hops (actual leafy hops were used)
Add all and boil for 1/2 hour. Strain into primary fermenter (using leafy hops
helped to strain wort because it held back many of the seeds). Then pitch one
package Munton + Fison Ale Yeast into wort when it reaches appropriate
temperature. We did a single stage fermentation to allow whatever seeds got
through to sit in the fermenter and increase the flavor.
OG - 1.044
FG - 1.030
We bottled in one week. We'll let you know how it turns out, but the flat beer
was nearly drinkable!!! We called it Defcon 5 but thought The Alamo would be a
fitting name as well!
