Gastritis (Acute and Chronic)
SYMPTOMS for Acute Erosive Gastritis include loss of appetite, dizziness,
headache, nausea, vomiting (sometimes blood) and abdominal pressure.
Signs for Acute Corrosive Gastritis include possible corrosion of the lips,
throat and mouth, severe stomach pain, swallowing difficulties because of
inflamed esophagus, bluish color, vomiting of blood and collapse.
Signs for Chronic Gastritis may include discomfort upon eating, mild nausea
and a burning sensation in the stomach.
CAUSES for AEG include drugs such as aspirin, food poisoning, hot spicy
foods, excessive alcohol intake, allergic reaction to some foods, viral and
other acute illness. Causes for ACG may be from swallowing strong acids or
alkali, heavy metal salt, iodine or potassium permanganate. Causes for CG
is not always known but it may develop with adrenal, thyroid or pituitary
gland disorders, chronic use of aspirin, stomach cancer, diabetes and
pernicious anemia.
TREATMENT. For AEG medication may be prescribed for nausea and vomiting.
.For ACG prompt attention and possibly hospitalization may be necessary.
.Antidotes, stomach pump or induced vomiting to remove causative material.
.For CG antacids may be prescribed.
