  9. Solar activity continued low last week, although up slightly over
  10. the previous reporting period.  Solar flux edged above 100, and may
  11. peak around 125 in the next few days.  After that it should begin
  12. another slow drop, dipping below 100 around August 12.  Conditions
  13. should be mostly unsettled, with the chance of a disturbance around
  14. July 29.

  16. Earlier in the week the geomagnetic field was quiet, but it has been
  17. unsettled over the past few days, with a number of periods with
  18. K indices as high as four.
  19.  
  20. 20 meters remains the best overall band.  During this time of Summer
  21. do not expect the highest HF bands to be much good, even if there is
  22. a sudden rise in solar flux.
  23.  
  24. Sunspot Numbers from July 15 through 21 were 102, 96, 88, 118, 102,
  25. 94 and 79, with a mean of 97.  10.7 cm flux was 93.2, 97.1, 99.3,
  26. 100, 100.8, 102.2 and 105, with a mean of 99.7.

  28. The free solar data graphing program from WA4TTK should be available
  29. soon.  The latest version irons out some wrinkles in the moving
  30. averages, and offers more user flexibility.  This software will run
  31. on any MS DOS computer with an EGA or VGA display, and is a neat way
  32. to look at recent solar cycle trends.  Watch this bulletin for more
  33. details.

  35. The path projection for this week is from Denver, Colorado to
  36. Burkino Faso.
  37.  
  38. 80 meters should be open from 0130z to 0600z, peaking from 0430z to
  39. 0500z.  40 meters should be good from 0000z to 0700z, with the best
  40. times from 0230z to 0530z.  30 meters should be open from 2300z to
  41. 0730z, peaking from 0130z to 0600z.  Look for 20 meter openings from
  42. 2130z to 0900z, with best signals from 0030z to 0630z.  17 meters
  43. should be open on most days from 1900z to 0630z, with best
  44. conditions from 2200z to 0300z.  15 meters may be open on a few days
  45. almost around the clock, but the best bets for openings are from
  46. 1500z to 0500z.  Look for daily openings right around 0200z.  12 and
  47. 10 meters do not look good over this path.
