NETWAR GRAPHICS ENGINE DEMO v1.03
Thank you for downloading this simple demo of a portion of the graphics
engine for an upcoming game from Genius, Ltd. software.
A VGA Monitor and a 386SX is REQUIRED (MCGA will NOT work)
------------------------------------- (Yes, Mode X)
The main purpose of this file was an attempt to find an artist for
the project. Please read ARTIST.TXT if you would like to
submit artwork to us for consideration.
Please forward any bugs or comments as well (Info on where to send
correspondence is in the ARTIST.TXT file as well). Please include CPU
type and any other pertinent hardware info. WARNING: Don't use PKLite on
DEMO.EXE. The resulting EXE will not work.
NOTE: I realize the movement is jumpy on slower machines (like mine)
when floors and/or ceilings are on. It's supposed to be that way. The
movement speed is independent of the speed of the machine, so that your
opponent will not be moving twice as fast as you if you have extra detail
on. Frame rate is NOT independent, though, so obviously the faster the
machine, the smoother and faster the frame transition.
See HISTORY.TXT for bug fixes and improvements.
COMMANDS:
Just type DEMO to start. A little menu that exists solely to test
the menuing is given, choose Run Demo. Use the arrow keys to move around.
Esc : Quit
"F" : Will toggle Floors/Ceiling's ON/OFF
"A" : Float up
"Z" : Float down
"+" : Increase movement / turning speed
"-" : Decrease movement / turning speed
"R" : Will "shoot" a little robot guy out into the maze, moving
at about your currently selected speed. He goes around,
bounces off walls, and occasionally goes through them
(hey, he's just to demonstrate the engine!). You can
shoot any number of these guys out into the maze, but
only about thirty can exist in it right now.
BTW, the mouse cursor does NOTHING as of yet. But it looks really
nifty. :)
