International Keyboard Kit v1.3
for
Windows 3.1
(c) 1993 - Distant Markets, Edmonton, Alberta CANADA
Thank you for trying Int'l Keyboard Kit!
Int'l Keyboard Kit is a software program specially designed for people who
need to work in multiple languages using MS Windows 3.1. With I.K.K., you
can easily add a second keyboard language layout to your MS Windows and
switch back and forth between languages anywhere in your Windows applications
with just the press of a "Hot" key.
Up to 12 languages may be assigned to "Hot" keys (F1 - F12).
Pop-up on-screen keyboard layout:
---------------------------------
This (optional) pop-up keyboard layout allows you to view the foreign
key placement. To view more characters...
1) press the Shift key and click on the Refresh button with your mouse.
2) press the Ctrl + Alt keys and click on the Refresh button w/your mouse.
Here's how to install and use International Keyboard Kit for Windows 3.1
========================================================================
1) Insert I.K.K. disk in drive A or B (unless already uncompressed on
your hard disk from a BBS download.)
2) Start Windows and from the Program Manager choose File Run and type
a:setup.exe or b:setup.exe or location on hard disk where
I.K.K. setup is located.
3) Click on INSTALL and let I.K.K. install.
4) Click on "Restart Windows" to activate the configuration changes.
** Important **
5) Now that you are back in Windows, you should see IKK's icon at the
bottom left of your screen. Click on that icon and select "Always on Top".
This will always keep IKK's icon visible anywhere in Windows!
6) Click on IKK's icon again and select "Settings...". This opens a Window
that allows you to...
a) choose a second language keyboard layout.
b) change the keyboard layout switch. (Default is both SHIFT keys to
switch between your main default layout and another)
To select a second keyboard layout, click on the arrow next to the
title saying "Second Layout". This allows you to scroll through the
languages and select the one you need. Once you have highlighted the
language you want, I.K.K. will either prompt you for your Microsoft
Windows 3.1 disks (up to 20 languages/keyboard layouts come with your
Microsoft Windows 3.1 disks) or an I.K.K. add-on disk with other
languages/layouts such as Cyrillic or Eastern European, etc.) Follow
the instructions and then click on OK.
NOTE* If you need to work with many different languages, assign "Hot" keys!
To do so, simply follow the instructions in section 6 and go to the
"Shortcut Key" below the languages and choose any key from F1 to F12. Once
you have chosen a "Hot" key, click on OK. Repeat for more languages.
Remember: up to 12 languages may be assigned to "Hot" keys!
** Congratulations! You have completed I.K.K.'s installation and setups! **
7) Now you can change to your second keyboard layout(s) anywhere in Windows!
To do so simply press "Both" Shift keys at the same time.
If you have many languages assigned as "Hot Keys", simply make sure
that the IKK's icon is "highlighted" (language mentioned below the icon)
and either...
a) press the "Hot Key" or
b) double click on the IKK's icon or
c) press enter
7a,b or c will display a Window with the languages and their assigned
"Hot Keys". At this point you can either press the "Hot Key" or click
on the language name and your keyboard will switch to that layout.
** Note for users using many languages **
The last language used will be the one toggling between your main default
language and second language when you press "Both Shift" keys.
8) To view the on-screen keyboard layout, click on the IKK's icon and
select "Show Layout..." This keyboard layout can be moved anywhere on
the screen with the mouse by simply highlighting the bar saying
"Keyboard Layout". If you want to change the size of the layout, click
on the Font button and change the configurations.
9) If you would like to keep the keyboard layout showing at all times,
click on the IKK's icon again and make sure that you have already
selected "Always on Top" (Step #5) then select "Save Position."
N O T E ** If you accidently close your IKK's icon simply...
