You can get driving insurance cover from an insurance company, a broker, or some car
dealers. Insurance comes at three levels of cover - full or comprehensive, third party with
fire and theft cover, or just third party cover. The cost varies with age, car, type of licence
and other factors.
Remember, it is a fact that new drivers are at a greater risk of having an accident than
experienced motorists. They account for 10% of all drivers, yet are involved in 29% of all
accidents. You are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing the
test than at any other time.
Information on the Pass Plus Scheme can be found in the DSA publication - The Official
Driving Test pages 66 and 67, or telephone 0115 901 2633.
