  1. #TEST CAR SECTION - 1
  2. TESTING  THE  ACCELERATION  AND  BRAKING
  3.  
  4. Let's test out the acceleration and braking controls.
  5. All of the icons except acceleration and braking will
  6. be disabled for this test.
  7.  
  8. You are instructed to CLICK the acceleration icon and
  9. HOLD the mouse button down till you pass the 30 mph
  10. road signs which are further along the road. When you
  11. pass the 30 mph road signs,  click the brake icon and
  12. gradually slow the car to a stop,  making sure it stops
  13. just before the BIG RED ARROW and STOP road signs.

  17. TESTING  THE  STEERING
  18.  
  19. Let's test out the left and right steering controls.
  20. All of the icons except the steering, gas, braking and
  21. external view button have been disabled for this test.

  23. In the next test you will be in an empty car park which
  24. has been especially set up and laid out with many road
  25. cones to guide you into steering the car in a figure of
  26. eight. This will give you a chance to try out the left
  27. and right steering controls. You can press steering
  28. arrow keys at the same time as accelerate/brake keys.

  30. Click the Ok button to start the next test section
  31. #TEST CAR SECTION - 2
  32. LEFT  AND  RIGHT  STEERING
  33.  
  34. Now you are in a car park specially set up for you to
  35. test out the left and right steering control.
  36.  
  37. You are instructed to drive SLOWLY between the road
  38. cones across the centre of the car park and to aim for
  39. the BIG RED ARROW.  The arrow will guide you to do a
  40. figure of eight around the car park. Follow the arrow
  41. and voiced instructions to complete the test drive.

  46. #TEST CAR SECTION - 3
  47. WELL DONE!  You have successfully steered the car
  48. around the car park in a figure-of-eight route and
  49. learnt how to steer the car carefully both in the left
  50. and right turning directions.

  52. DRIVING  IN  REVERSE
  53. Next you are going to practice driving in reverse. To
  54. do this the car will be automatically put in to reverse
  55. and you will only need to accelerate or brake the car
  56. in a straight line.  Use the head turn icons to look
  57. behind and make sure the car doesn't touch the wall.

  60. Click Ok to move on to the next test-car section
  61. #TEST CAR SECTION - 3
  62. DRIVING  IN  REVERSE
  63.  
  64. The car has been put in to reverse and you are now
  65. instructed to click the accelerator icon and drive in
  66. reverse between the road cones.

  68. Make sure you stop the car close to the brick wall, but
  69. without touching it. Use the head-turn icons to look
  70. behind you as you drive along in reverse.

  72. The remaining icons that are not used in this test
  73. have been disabled and will appear grey.

  76. #TEST CAR SECTION - 4
  77. STEERING  WHILST  REVERSING

  79. There are two more test sections to complete. In the
  80. next one you will reverse the car again, but this time
  81. you will steer the car right when entering the car park
  82. area.

  84. You may use the external view to help you.

  86. Unused icons will be disabled and appear greyed out.

  91. #TEST CAR SECTION - 4
  92. STEERING  RIGHT  IN  REVERSE

  94. The car has been put in to reverse and you are now
  95. instructed to click the accelerator icon and drive in
  96. reverse between the road cones.

  98. This time when you enter the brick-walled car park
  99. area you should steer RIGHT, using the right-steer-
  100. ing icon to remain between the road cones. Then
  101. you should stop the car without touching the wall.

  103. You may use the external view to help you.

  106. #TEST CAR SECTION - 5
  107. STEERING  LEFT  IN  REVERSE
  108.  
  109. In the final test car section you will reverse along the
  110. same test road. When you reach the big red arrow you
  111. should steer left, and then before reaching the brick
  112. wall you should stop the car.

  114. Once again an external-car viewing position has been
  115. set up.  This will allow you to see how the car has
  116. progressed and helps guide you into the correct
  117. parking position.

  122. STEERING  LEFT  IN  REVERSE

  124. The car has been put in to reverse and you are now
  125. instructed to click the accelerator icon and drive in
  126. reverse between the road cones.

  128. This time when you enter the brick-walled car park
  129. area you should steer LEFT and use the left-steering
  130. icon to remain between the road cones.  Then you
  131. should stop the car without touching the wall.

  133. You may use the external view to help you.

  135. Click the Ok button to start this test car section
  136. #SECTION  COMPLETED
  137. Congratulations! You have succeeded in completing
  138. the training car introduction.

  140. In this section you have learnt about the controls of
  141. the car and the program icons used to drive it with.
  142.  
  143. Also in this section you have tested out the icons:
  144. the gas, braking, left and right steering, left and
  145. right head turn icons and the external view.
  146.  
  147. In the next module's section you will learn about the
  148. pre-drive checks, moving the car off and safe stopping.
