  1.                           UPGRADING FROM 1.10

  3. This version is a drop-in replacement for Iron Ox 1.10.  Just copy all
  4. the files from this archive into your IRONOX directory, and you're ready
  5. to rock 'n roll!  Note:  if you have flagged IRONOX.EXE read-only
  6. (recommended for multinode systems), unflag it with ATTRIB IRONOX.EXE -R.
  7. This step will allow you to overwrite IRONOX.EXE with the new version of
  8. the file.  When you have installed the upgrade, reflag it as read-only
  9. with ATTRIB IRONOX.EXE +R.

  12.                           UPGRADING FROM 1.00
  13.  
  14. Here are the steps to upgrade from Iron Ox version 1.00:

  16. 1. Back up your IRONOX directory.  (Why?  Either you or the conversion
  17.    utility might make a mistake and the upgrade might not work.  If that
  18.    happens, I'm very happy to help you figure out a solution to the
  19.    problem; if you have a backup of your data files, you probably will
  20.    not have to reset your game.)

  22. 2. If you have flagged IRONOX.EXE read-only (recommended for multinode
  23.    systems), unflag it with ATTRIB IRONOX.EXE -R.  This step will allow
  24.    you to overwrite IRONOX.EXE with the new version of the file.  If you
  25.    flagged any other files in the directory read-only, unflag them, too.

  27. 3. Unzip IRONOX11.ZIP into your IRONOX directory, overwriting files
  28.    whenever prompted.

  30. 4. If you are running multinode, reflag your executable using ATTRIB
  31.    IRONOX.EXE +R.  Why?  The Borland VROOOM overlay manager has a bug
  32.    that causes sharing violations when you run more than one copy of an
  33.    overlaid program at a time.  Flagging the file read-only works around
  34.    this bug.

  36. 5. Run the 100TO110.EXE utility to update your old data files.
  37.  
  38. 6. If you wish, run OXConfig to enter new values for Reset Duration and
  39.    Min and Max Game Length.

  41. 7. Delete the file called PROMPTS.FIL.  It is no longer needed.

  43. While 1.10 is very different than 1.00, and all of the data file formats
  44. have changed, I know how long a game takes to build up momentum after a
  45. reset, so I don't want systems with existing installations of Iron Ox to
  46. have to reset to go to 1.10.  Please feel free to contact me through any
