Title: Running Different Versions of WordPerfect on the Same
Computer
Product: WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS
Number: 1124-10/93
Problem
You are trying to start WordPerfect 5.1, but when you type WP at
the DOS prompt, the older version of WordPerfect is started
instead of WordPerfect 5.1.
Solution
There are three solutions to this problem.
Method 1
Make sure you are starting WordPerfect 5.1 from the correct
directory.
1 At the DOS prompt, type cd\wp51 and press Enter.
You are now in the directory where your WordPerfect 5.1 files are
installed.
2 Type wp.
If you want to run WordPerfect 5.0 rather than 5.1,
1 Type cd\wp50 at the DOS prompt and press Enter.
2 Type wp.
Method 2
Edit the path line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file so that WordPerfect
5.1 appears before WordPerfect 5.0.
1 Type c:\wp51; in the path line before c:\wp50; appears.
2 Reboot your computer. The change in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
will not take effect until you reboot.
Now when you type wp at any DOS prompt, WordPerfect 5.1 will be
started instead of WP 5.0.
Method 3
If you are no longer using the older version of WordPerfect,
delete it from your hard drive. CAUTION: You will also be
deleting any personal files you had saved in this directory. We
suggest that you go through the files in your older version and
copy everything you still need into your WP51 directory before
you follow the steps below. See the reference manual for that
particular version for instructions on copying the files.
1 Type cd\wpxx, where xx represents the number of the older
version of WordPerfect (such as 50).
2 Type del *.* at the wpxx prompt.
The DOS command "del" will delete all files in that directory.
3 Type cd.. at the wpxx prompt.
4 Type rd wpxx.
The older WordPerfect directory, including all of the older
WordPerfect files, is now deleted from your hard drive.
