GET SOME IMAGINATION
It definitely takes imagination to construct and run
a board....but it doesn't have to take TONS of it!
Anyone with an once-and-a-half of creativity and
imagination can put up a board. What it takes
equally as much of is perserverance and
stick-to-it-ive-ness. Once everything is in place,
you gotta KEEP it in place and running.
You need to decide a couple of things right off the
bat. One is what kind of board do you want to be. A
general board, period. A general board, with Adult
Areas. A totally Adult Board. A special interest
kind of board with a very specific purpose.
Then you need to get some people to work with you.
Don't try to do it alone. Get a couple of CO-SYSOPS
to help get the thing up and running. Assign them
specific tasks, like specific conference sysops - to
monitor and maintain heavily trafficked message
bases. A file sysop, if you are going to be dealing
with a lot of files. In fact get as many people as
you can helping you...delegate your authority. At
one point I had 6 co-sysops on my board.
O yeah! Even though you have co-sysops...only give
the MASTER SYSOP Security Level to yourself. The
Sysop Access has plenty of features for the
co-sysops....but the ultimate authority on the board
and the most power should be in one persons
control..and that is YOU the CHIEF!!
Have a staff meeting on a regular basis. I have mine
the first Thursday of every month. It is a good
point of reference for everyone involved, and you can
track the growth of the board that way.
Be as creative as you can with your screens. I have
customized all of my display and menu screens. The
generic Wildcat screens are ok to begin with but it
is much more attractive to have screen that come from
the very board itself. If you are not a creative
ansi or RIP artist find someone on your board who is
and draft him/her into being your Graphics/Design
Artist. I have ANSI / RIP Menu and Display screens
available for distribution on my board. TTS BBS

BBSing above all else is meant to be fun....and when
on my board and I will be glad to help you out!
it ceases being that then it is time to throw in the
towel. Remember YOU are the MASTER of the board, it
is not meant to master YOU! DON'T become an MODEM
ADDICT, just a modem-enthusiast! Hehehe! There IS a
difference!
If you need any help in putting your board together
please contact me on my board and I will be glad to
help you out! That's: TOWN SQUARE BBS!
