  3.                             GET QUESTIONNAIRES

  6.             The very first thing a users sees when he logs on for
  7.             the first time is a NEWUSER Questionnaire.  This  not
  8.             only   gathers  information  about  the  newuser  for
  9.             safekeeping - it also creates a USERBASE account  for
  10.             the  person  and  activates  the answers given by the
  11.             user.  For example,  if  he  selects  [C]  for  color
  12.             menus, this activates the ansi grpahics for him/her.

  14.             Mot  only  is the NEWUSER Questionnaire available for
  15.             use by the  sysop  to  gather  information,  but  any
  16.             number  of  questionnaires of his own making can also
  17.             be made available.

  19.             First of all, there is a QUESTIONNAIRE MENU, found in
  20.             the QUES subdirectory of the home  directory  (WC30).
  21.             This  is  one  of  two  .BBS files not found with the
  22.             other .BBS files in the DISP directory.  BULLETIN.BBS
  23.             is the other one, and  that  is  found  in  the  BULL
  24.             subdirectory.

  26.             List  all of the questionnaires you have available on
  27.             your board in this ascii/amsi file.  I have  one  for
  28.             SYSOPS SURVEYS, WILDCAT BBS LISTINGS, TEENAGE SURVEYS
  29.             (For Teens Only).

  31.             To  make  these  questionnaires  you  simply  run the
  32.             MAKEQUES program from the WC30 directory.  This  will
  33.             get  you into the MAKEQUES Program.  Hit F3 to load a
  34.             survey that you already have made and would  like  to
  35.             edit,  or just start typing at the blank entry is you
  36.             are creating  a  new  one.   A  little  experimenting
  37.             always helps to get these questionnaires just the way
  38.             you  want  them.   Hitting  the  F5  key will let you
  39.             sample what you have already completed to see  if  it
  40.             is the way you want it.

  42.             Making  a  general questionnaire to be activated from
  43.             the main menu consists of making the questions,  then
  44.             saving   it   as   a   QUESXXXX.DAT   file.   Meaning
  45.             QUES0001.DAT for  the  first  questionnaire  on  your
  46.             menu,  QUES0002.DAT  for the second, etc.  The output
  47.             file to be  found  in  the  QUES  Directory  will  be
  48.             called: QUES0001.001, QUES0002.001, etc.

  50.             If  you would like to make a questionnaire to be sent
  51.             to the caller the next time he logs on ONLY! - make a
  52.             QUESDATE.DAT file.  This is appropriate for polls and
  53.             contests: i.e.  I have my daily log-on trivia contest
  54.             set up this way.  When the caller recalls before  the
  55.             questionnaire  is  updated,  the questionnaire is not
  56.             sent.  It is a one time deal!   The  output  file  is
  57.             called QUESDATE.DAT.

  59.             The  standard  QUESNEW.DAT  file  that comes with the
  60.             board, needs some customizing.  Don't  be  afraid  to
  61.             get in their and edit in and out the information that
  62.             you want to see included and excluded.

  64.             Encourage   questionnaires   to   be   available  for
  65.             different conferences as a  way  of  spicing  up  the
  66.             traffic and getting the pulse of public opinion.
