  6.             The  first  thing  you  need  if  you want to build a
  7.             Wildcat BBS is good old fashioned money!   It  is  an
  8.             expensive hobby running a BBS - make no mistake about
  9.             it!   So  if you are on a really tight budget I would
  10.             suggest another hobby!   The  cost  however,  can  be
  11.             regulated  by  the  style of BBS you are looking for.
  12.             There is the "Cadillac and Rolls Royce Model BBSes" ,
  13.             there's the "1959 Volkswagen" type and there  is  the
  14.             comfortable  driving  newer  model that does not have
  15.             absolutely every whistle and bell that comes down the
  16.             pike...but again which does not cost a small  fortune
  17.             to  set-up  and  maintain.   I  started  out with the
  18.             Volkswagen, and now I am up to  about  an  '87  Grand
  19.             Am...   which  happens also to be the year of the car
  20.             that I drive.  But believe  me,  I  spend  more  time
  21.             driving this BBS than I do the car!

  23.             So:  make  sure you have enough money to get yourself
  24.             set up with some decent hardware, and software.   And
  25.             then   leave   some  stashed  away  for  all  of  the
  26.             REGISTRATIONS of all of the  auxiliary  programs  you
  27.             will  "need"  to  get  for  the  board!   All  of the
  28.             SHAREWARE versions of third party  programs  that  in
  29.             conscience  you will feel obligated to pay for : like
  30.             this book for one!

  32.             In short, the BBS category needs to be added  to  the
  33.             family budget, (and Quicken Program) if you are to do
  34.             this  thing  any  justice.   And  keep  peace  in the
  35.             family!
