CP-FILE v1.03
The File Area Rearranger for WildCat! 3.xx
Author: Chuck Warren
What is CP-FILE?
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
After adding one new file area after another, I found it extremely difficult
to keep the sorted appearance I wanted for the file areas I have setup.
With this in mind, I decided to write a utility that would allow me to move
(insert) file areas any where I wanted to! So from that concept, CP-FILE
was born.
USING CP-FILE:
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
First of all, this cannot be expressed enough:
BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM PRIOR TO USING THIS UTILITY!
─────────────────────────────────────────────────
Secondly, ALL NODES MUST BE OFFLINE!
Start CP-FILE by entering CP-FILE [WildCat Path] on the DOS commandline.
Example:
CP-FILE C:\WC30
A quick read will be done of the file areas data file and a menu will appear.
- Moving file areas:
─────────────────────
Moving file areas is now a breeze with CP-FILE. First, move the highlight
bar to the file area you want moved. Next, press the [SPACE BAR] to tag
it. You'll see a number appear in the ( ) indicating it has been tagged.
Pressing it again on this file area will untag this item. The number that
will appear is significant because when you tag multiple (up to 99)
file areas, the number identifies the order they will be inserted at the
new location. This can be used as a means of sorting your file areas.
Once you have tagged all the file areas you want moved, move the
highlight bar to where you want the insertion to ocurr. To activate the
insertion, hold down the ALT key and press the letter I. The file areas
will be inserted and the menu will be re-drawn with the changes you just
made.
- Deleting/Clearing file areas:
────────────────────────────────
CP-FILE allows both the deletion and clearing of file areas. The
difference between the two is, deleting totally removes the file area,
whereas clearing does NOT remove the slot, just makes it inactive to your
callers.
To delete a file area, move the highlight bar to the file area you want
to delete, hold down the ALT key and press the letter D. An *D will be
placed in the ( ) to signify it has been selected for deletion. To
undelete a file area you have selected for deletion, simply press ALT-D
again and it will be released from deletion status.
Clearing works the same way, except an *C will be placed in the ( ) and the
file area title will be blanked out.
- Processing changes:
─────────────────────
Once you have made all the desired changes, press the F10 function key. As
each area is updated, a status screen will be displayed identifying the
action(s) taking place.
NOTE: Deletions/clearings will not actually remove files, only their entries
in the files database!
DO NOT INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS IN ANY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOTE:
PRECAUTIONS:
────────────
As with any utility, you should BACKUP your system prior to using this
program.
DISCLAIMER:
