FILESLST 3.0
FILES.LST Utility for TriBBS (R)
Copyright (c) 1991-1994 By TriSoft
This program is distributed on the freeware basis. Registered TriTel
sysops are free to use FILESLST with their TriTel boards.
Unregistered TriTel sysops may use FILESLST during their board's 30
day evaluation period. Any other use of FILESLST is strictly
prohibited.
FILESLST is a fairly simple utility for appending new files to a file
area's FILES.LST file. To make it as simple as possible to use
FILESLST, copy FILESLST.EXE to a directory that's in your PATH. Next,
you must change your current directory to the desired file area's
directory. Then simply enter FILESLST at the DOS prompt. If there is
a FILES.LST file already in the current directory, FILESLST will start
by backing up your current FILES.LST file as FILES.BK$, read in the
names from the current FILES.LST file, and then sort the file names.
Next, FILESLST scans the directory for any files that aren't already
in the FILES.LST file. If a file is found in the directory and not in
the FILES.LST file, FILESLST will add the file's name, size, and date
to the end of the FILES.LST file. If the file is a ZIP, ARJ, LZH,
SDN, PAK, or ARC file, FILESLST will try to extract either a
FILE_ID.DIZ or DESC.SDI description file. If a description file is
found, FILESLST will use the description file's contents for the new
file's description. If a description file is not found or the file
isn't a compressed archive, FILESLST will add a description of "No
Description" for the file. This dummy description is done for two
reasons: to show you that a file needs a description and the starting
position of the file's description.
If you use a name other than FILES.LST for your file list's name,
simply enter the file list's name on the command line. For example,
if your file list was named MUSIC.LST, you would enter FILESLST
MUSIC.LST to update the file list.
You should note that FILESLST will enter the date using two different
methods. By default, FILESLST uses the current date for each new
file. That way, the new files will show up when a caller selects the
TriTel "New Files" option from the Files Menu. However, the actual
file date for each new file can be used by specifying a "/F" switch
when executing FILESLST.
FILESLST can also optionally sort a file list either alphabetically or
by date. If you want to sort the file list alphabetically, you need
to specify a "/A" switch when executing FILESLST. If you want to sort
the file list by date, you need to specify a "/D" switch when
executing FILESLST.
Support for FILESLST is available by calling The Lobster Buoy, 207-
941-0805.
