  1. This README.TXT file explains how to use the demonstration 
  2. version of Citation Software Inc.'s "Reply Mail Designer" 
  3. software program (RMDDEMO.EXE).  If you have any
  4. questions about the demonstration program or if you'd like to
  5. order a Reply Mail Designer software package, call Citation 
  6. Software Inc. at 1-800-872-7375. The price for Reply Mail 
  7. Designer is $119.95 in U.S. dollars.

  12. WHAT IS "Reply Mail Designer"?
  13.  
  14. Reply Mail Designer is a software program which allows you to 
  15. create Business Reply envelopes/postcards and Courtesy Reply 
  16. envelopes/postcards with a PC and a laser printer, inkjet 
  17. printer, or imagesetter. Reply Mail Designer can create a 
  18. complete Business/Courtesy Reply envelope or postcard, 
  19. including the FIM and POSTNET bar codes, the mailing address, 
  20. the permit information, and all other graphic elements and 
  21. text elements required by the U.S. Postal Service. Just give 
  22. Reply Mail Designer a few pieces of information, and it lays out 
  23. your envelope or postcard with everything positioned according to
  24. U.S. Postal Service requirements.

  26. Reply Mail Designer has been CERTIFIED by the Postal Service.
  27. It understands the Postal Service's mailpiece-design 
  28. requirements, so it can lay out your envelopes & postcards
  29. instantly and correctly.

  31. If you like, you can use Reply Mail Designer to create only some 
  32. of the elements on the envelope or postcard. For example, you 
  33. might want to use it to create only the FIM and POSTNET bar 
  34. codes.

  36. With Reply Mail Designer you can print directly onto envelopes &
  37. postcards, you can print artwork to make printing plates, and you
  38. can save your envelope/postcard designs in editable Encapsulated
  39. PostScript (EPS) format for use in Adobe Illustrator, Quark
  40. Xpress, PageMaker, etc. You can even use the EPS files on a Mac!

  42. Reply Mail Designer runs on IBM-PS/1's, IBM-PS/2's, and 
  43. IBM-PC-compatible computers. It prints on PostScript printers & 
  44. imagesetters and on Hewlett-Packard Series III/IV printers
  45. or PCL 5-compatible printers (such as the Desk Jet 1200).

  47. You can use a mouse with Reply Mail Designer, but a mouse is not 
  48. required. If your mouse doesn't work when you run the 
  49. demonstration version of the program, it's probably because  you
  50. need to load the "mouse-driver" program (usually named MOUSE.SYS
  51. or MOUSE.COM) that came with the mouse. Load the mouse-
  52. driver program by following the instructions supplied by the
  53. mouse manufacturer; then try running the demonstration 
  54. program again.

  56. The name of the Reply Mail Designer demonstration program file is
  57. RMDDEMO.EXE. The demonstration program requires 15 other 
  58. Reply Mail Designer files to run; all of these files are 
  59. contained in the self-extracting archive file RMDZNR.EXE 
  60. which you probably just executed. All these files must be 
  61. located in the same directory as RMDDEMO.EXE.

  63. To run the Reply Mail Designer demonstration program under DOS,
  64. type

  68. Follow the instructions on the screen.

  70. If you like, you can run the program under Windows or OS/2. 
  71. Run it the same way you would run any DOS program under Windows 
  72. or OS/2.

  74. NOTE that the demonstration version of Reply Mail Designer prints
  75. the word "SAMPLE" - along with some shading under the bar codes -
  76. on each envelope or card that you print. This only happens with 
  77. the demonstration version; envelopes & postcards created with the
  78. real Reply Mail Designer program will not have any extra objects
  79. printed on them.
