Welcome to Flight Log Maker v1.0!
Flight Log Maker was written for General Aviation pilots
by an experienced Pilot/Instructor. My goal is to provide
a Comercial Quality computer Flight Planning Program,
without the high price or ever require the user to be locked
into never ending database updates. Flight Log Maker(s) output
is a Flight Log that not only includes the Trip Data, but
also informs you of your Aircraft(s) Performance, and also
provides space for copying Radio Frequencies, ATIS
reports, NOTAMS, and Instructions for Takeoff and Landing.
Flight Log Maker Performance Files will NEVER need
updating unless you make a performance modification
to your aircraft.
Since you are already required to carry CURRENT
charts and airport information with you when you fly,
why buy that information twice! I guarantee that Flight
Log Maker can save you money if you are contemplating the
purchase of Flight Planning Software.
Flight Log Maker has the capability of looking up
Performance Data just as you would look up this Data
in the Pilots Operating Handbook (P.O.H.).
After selecting or filling out required data in three very
simple worksheets, Flight Log Maker goes to work for you
to calculate your trip. Using Trigonometry, and Algorithms
designed specifically for Flight Log Maker,
your flight log will be computed and listed the instant you
select List/Print/File from the LIST window.
Flight Log Maker allows you to Browse, Print, or Save the
Flight Log to a File. ( Print or File as many times as you wish! )
Flight Log Maker will warn against file overwrites also.
By saving it to a File, you can load the Flight Log to a Word
Processor for editing if you desire. For example,
maybe you would like to enter the Radio Frequencies for your
trip instead of hand writing them or remove some of the
Performance Data not needed. Filing the data is a convenient
way of keeping track of magnetic course and distance information
on frequently traveled trips as well.
One unique feature of Flight Log Maker is its ability to select
a Cruise Power Setting for you should you make a mistake. The
new power settings are either Filed or Printed should you decide
to File or Print that particular Log.
Because there are many different combinations of RPM and
MANIFOLD PRESSURE for various ALTITUDES, the chance of
entering a power setting not normally used for cruise
is quite common.
If Flight Log Maker cannot find performance data for
your Power Setting, it will match a Power Setting with
performance data that you can expect when flying your
selected cruise altitude. Flight Log maker will notify you
of this change. Then simply use the power setting given.
You can Tab through the windows of Flight Log Maker with the
TAB key, however, it is recommended that you use a mouse.
By using a mouse you can "pick up" the lower right corner of
the LIST window and move it aside to look at the settings
that were in made in previous windows should a PROGRAM ABORT
warning appear or simply because you desire to have a second
look at your input.
Other windows can be called to the "front" of the screen
by placing the mouse anywhere on that window and clicking
the mouse. When on a pushbutton, the mouse executes as you
release the left mouse key so if you accidentally press a
Push Button and then change your mind, simply move the mouse
Off of the Push Button before releasing the key.
Although the Program is very simple to use, a Status Window
is provided at the bottom of the screen to promp you along
when in a Field or on a Pushbutton. The Status Window changes
as you move within a Worksheet, always prompting for
correct input, warning of mistakes, and suggesting what to do next.
Error "Windows" will also appear when a critical mistake is made
or if a File cannot be Opened or Read for some reason.
Fatal errors will usually cause the program to terminate
because allowing the program to continue would cause errors
in the flight data. When this happens, simply pull the LIST
window out of the way with your mouse and examine your
input for errors, then EXIT and restart program.
It is important to make certain that all performance files
are located within the same directory as the FLT.EXE file.
Files saved by Flight Log Maker will be saved to this
drive/directory as well.
A context sensitive HELP file will be incorporated as soon
as time allows.
Other aircraft files for Flight Log Maker are being created
and will be available as P.O.H's become available to me.
Aircraft Files currently available are the CESSNA 152
(comes with the main program), CESSNA 172P, CESSNA 172 RG,
and the PIPER WARRIOR II. The other Files are being created
as time allows.
Should you desire files for an aircraft, they are $10.00
per aircraft, U.S. Check or Money order drawn on a U.S. Bank.
You can contact me by calling (708-964-2285) or writing:

Custom files can be created as well!
Enjoy the Program!!
