Program to Update pcANYWHERE 4.5 For Additional Modem Support
Last updated: January 20, 1994
Program: NEWMODEM
Purpose: To replace the modem data base included in pcANYWHERE's
MSG file with another modem data base.
Usage: NEWMODEM <original_msg_file> <new_modem_msg_file>
where <original_msg_file> is:
AW.MSG for pcANYWHERE/LAN
AWR.MSG for pcANYWHERE/Remote
AWH.MSG for pcANYWHERE/Host
and <new_modem_msg_file> is the name of the file containing
the replacement modem data base.
Example: To replace the modem data in your copy of pcANYWHERE/LAN with
the modem data base included in the file named NEWMODEM.MSG, enter
the following command line:
NEWMODEM AW.MSG NEWMODEM.MSG
Notes: 1. If no file extension is specified, NEWMODEM assumes ".MSG".
2. If no command line arguments are specified, you are prompted for
the names of the original message file and the new modem file.
3. Symantec may supply more than one version of the modem MSG file.
These other versions may contain subsets of modems listed below.

Notes:
1. Modems marked with an asterisk are not supported by Symantec's technical
support.
2. The US Robotics Sportster 2400 must be set for 19200 bps.
3. Newer ROM versions of the AT&T Comsphere 3820 modem may require an
additional modem init string of ATS85=1 in order to do a callback.
4. The Shiva NetModem/E can only be used for dialing out and "connection
ended by" should be set to "always connected".
5. Modems marked with a [x] are supplied in NEWMOD96.MSG, which just
contains high-speed modems (9600 bps or higher). Older versions of
pcANYWHERE may not be capable of including the full modem database.
