  14. WD0GML for the following DX information.
  15.  
  16. 1S, SPRATLY ISLANDS. Operators 9M6BZ, JA9AG, JQ1WSL, JS1QHO and G3NOM
  17. will be active from Pulau Layang-Layang Island (Swallow Reef). The
  18. operation will start April 2nd and end April 5th using the following
  19. three callsigns: 9M0A, 9M0AG and 9M0BZ. Operations will be on CW, SSB,
  20. FM, RTTY, AMTOR, PACTOR, and PACKET; and the frequencies will be 160-10
  21. meters, including the WARC bands. Here are the suggested frequencies:

  23. CW: 1.825,  3.505, 7.005,  10.105, 14.005, 18.070, 21.005, 24.895, 28.005 MHz.
  24. SSB: 3.790, 7.080, 14.195, 18.145, 21.295, 24.945, 28.495 MHz.
  25. FM: 29.240 MHz.
  26. RTTY: 7.030, 14.085, 21.085, 28.085 MHz.
  27. QSL routes will be announced at a later date.

  29. HS0AC QSL INFORMATION. Gary, W5VSZ who operated HS0AC last year (1993)
  30. during August 14th thru the 23rd, can provide QSL's for ONLY this time
  31. period. He is NOT the manager for this club station, which is very
  32. active. QSL requests for other dates not in log will be returned when
  33. possible. DXers are asked to check the dates before submitting QSL
  34. requests.

  36. JW, SVALBARD. Tom, LA1BJA, and his father Inge, LA5VK, will be in
  37. Svalbard from March 18 until March 21, signing JW1BJA and JW5VK,
  38. respectively. They will be operating on all bands, including WARC,
  39. mostly on SSB. This is probably the first time that JW has been
  40. active on the WARC bands. The WARC bands was opened for SSB for
  41. Norwegian amateurs on January 1, 1994. QSL to JW5VK, Inge Johan Lauknes,
  42. Oldersneia 10, N-9100 Kvaloysletta, Norway.

  44. PY0, TRINDADE. Rolf, PY1RO, has announced that Mendonca, PY1UP, will be
  45. going to Trindade again in about a month.  This time Mendonca will be
  46. going there for four months with a higher class of license, which mean
  47. he will be able to operate on all bands. He will be using the same call
  48. sign as last time, PY0TUP.
  49.  
  50. PY0, FERNANDO DE NORONHA. Peter, PY5CC, will be active until April 1st,
  51. as PY0FM. He will be active on 160-2 meters, including WARC bands and
  52. on CW/SSB. He has been heard 40 meters starting around 2100z, 80 meters
  53. at 0245z and 160 meters at 0415z. He was also heard on 30 meters which
  54. is rare for a Brazilian station. Stations in Brazil have had privileges
  55. on this band since February 21, 1992. QSL via PY5CC.

  57. ST0, SOUTHERN SUDAN. As this bulletin was being prepared, a PacketCluster
  58. spot showed that John, PA3CXC, is active again from here as PA3CXC/ST0.
  59. His length of stay is unknown at this time, but he was heard on 18072
  60. kHz at 1745z and 24892 kHz at 1830z.
  61.  
  62. TI9, COCOS ISLAND. Frank Smith, AH0W/OH2LVG, who spoke with Carlos,
  63. TI2CF, on the telephone, was informed that Carlos will be departing for
  64. Cocos Island for a one-week DXpedition as TI9CF. He expected to be on
  65. the air as of Sunday evening, March 13th. There will be a total of two
  66. operators operating CW/SSB on all bands.  QSL route TBA.

  68. VK9, LORD HOWE ISLANDS. There was a report of a station signing VK9LA
  69. on March 12th that was active on a 40 meter net (7084 kHz) at 1148z.
  70. No other information is known at this time, but the callsign is listed
  71. in the callbook as: Down, 43 Hillcroft Dve, Templestone Viv 3106,
  72. Australia.

  74. RS-12 ACTIVITIES. Stations that were heard and worked this week:
  75. 4U1UN, 6Y5IC, 9Y4LY, GM0AGN, N2CQR/HI8, HP2CWB, HS0ZAU, PJ8CW, V47WK,
  76. V73C and Z37DRS.

  78. DX TIDBITS. QSL EA8AH to OH1RY's new address: Pekka Kolehmainen,
  79. Kisatie 10, 21530 Paimio, Finland.  Contacts made in February
  80. 1994 with T33CW should not be QSLed to OH3JA who is reportedly getting
  81. cards from all over the world. OH3JA knows nothing about this operation.
  82. Veteran DXpeditioner Mats, SM7PKK, will be activating Banaba

  86. DXAC AND DXCC ACTIVITIES. DXAC Chairman Robert Beatty, W4VQ, has
  87. announced a "Proposed Vote Schedule" for the DXAC to vote on the
  88. following topics: (All are subjected to change.)
  89. March 1994-Mount Athos Deletion, Additional DXCC Awards and the 10 Meter
  90. DXCC Honor Roll.
  91. April 1994-Aldabra Island Reinstatement
  92. May   1994-Call Area Calling
  93. July  1994-Minimum Size for a DXCC Country
  94. Dates for the deletion of Walvis Bay/Penguin Islands are pending as
  95. soon as reasonable proof of the turnover to Namibia is made available.
  96. So as it stands right now, ZS9 and ZS0 are not deleted countries as
  97. of yet.

  120. Results of the 1993 OPDX/NODXA DX Survey

  122. The following is the percentage of votes from different areas received:

  132. Roger, G3SXW, not only received the most amount of votes for DXer
  133. of the Year, but there were many who expressed their comments about
  134. Rodger's ability to control the pileups and making contacts more
  135. quickly. There were 27 DXers nominated in all, and here are some
  136. that should receive "Honorable Mention" for their efforts and
  137. hard work:
  138. Martti/OH2BH, Romeo/3W3RR and Randy/K0EU.
  139.  
  140. 1993 DXpedition of the Year (by a group) - AH1A
  141. There were 10 nominated. The AH1A Howland Island DXpedition was
  142. voted by far the best operation of 1993. The eleven international
  143. operators made over 52,000 QSOs on a 15 day stay on the island.
  144. Here are a few DXpeditions that should receive "Honorable Mention"
  145. for their efforts and hard work: 9M0S, 9G1AA and E35X.
  146.  
  147. 1993 DXpedition of the Year (by an individual) - Roger, ZD9SXW/G3SXW
  148. Roger's DXpedition to Tristan da Cunha has netted him this second
  149. honor. His three week operation pleased many on all bands CW. There
  150. were 19 individuals nominated in all, and here are some that should
  151. receive "Honorable Mention" for their efforts and hard work:
  152. Randy-K0EU/9G1XA, Romeo-3W3RR/5A0RR and Baldur-DJ6SI/9U5DX.

  181. Editor's Analyzation: To start, the survey was taken between December of
  182. 1993 and January of 1994. As you can see the list has changed a bit
  183. since last year. Nine of the countries that were on last year's list
  184. are no longer in the "Top 20". These are 1S, 5X, 9G, EP, J2/A, KH1,
  185. KH5K, P5 and VK9/M. All these countries were very active in 1993
  186. or had a major DXpedition from it, except for P5 and J2/A (Abu Ail,
  187. which has been deleted from the DXCC list). I am real puzzled again
  188. this year as to why the majority forgot about P5 (North Korea). By
  189. rights, the P5 should be the most wanted country, yet only 15% of the
  190. people surveryed had it on their ballots. You would think with the
  191. activity by Romeo, 3W3RR, as 5A0RR, the DXers would have remembered
  192. that his operation still does not count for DXCC credit. We can also
  193. say there is NO doubt that the 3Y/P is no longer the "Number One"
  194. country needed because of the recent February 1994 3Y0PI operation.
  195. This would mean that Heard Island (VK0/H) is now the most wanted.
  196.  
  197. As we head deeper into the lower side of the sunspot cycle, the
  198. outlook (changes) in 1994 for the rest of countries listed may be
  199. uncertain. This is because there are really no officially announced
  200. major DXpeditions planned for any of them. There are talks of plans
  201. in the works for Heard Island (VK0/H) and rumors of a possible operation
  202. to Andaman or Laccadive Islands. Also, there is a possibility of
  203. activity from FT/Z (Amsterdam & St. Paul Island), but not until 1995.
  204. As far as Tunisia (3V) goes, this will probably move down the list
  205. (but not by much) now that Karl's (DK2WV) 3W8V operation has been
  206. approved for DXCC credit. Just think, there may not be any major
  207. changes to this list for next year's survey. (GEE, I HOPE NOT!)
