IRTS RADIO NEWS BULLETIN - Sunday 20th March 1994
This news bulletin was compiled and edited by Steve Wright,
EI5DD, in conjunction with the members of the Galway VHF Group.
AREN RADIO RELAY FORM.
----------------------
The Eastern Region AREN Group have produced a "draft" message or
relay form which can be used when sending third party messages
in an emergency situation. The form provides a record of the
AREN details e.g. operator, station location etc. as well as a
written record of the text of the message. Any AREN groups or
local clubs who would like a copy of the draft form may contact
Paul Martin, EI2CA, at QTHR. Comments or suggestions regarding
the form can be considered prior to the preparation of the final
product.
RSGB 70MHz FIXED CONTEST.
-------------------------
The RSGB 70 MHZ fixed contest takes place on Sunday the 27th of
March from 09:00 to 13:00 UTC. 70 MHz is a band which we must
used or lose and this contest will provide an opportunity for
those equipped for four metres to dust off the gear and make a
few QSO's. Don't forget to listen around 70.260 for the AM
stations who are also good for a few points. If you are not
entering the contest, go portable and make it easier for the
fixed stations to work you. They will be able to claim points
for each QSO they make with EI.
SOUTH DUBLIN RADIO CLUB.
------------------------
South Dublin Radio Club have set up a station in the Slieve
Bloom Mountains this weekend located near Kinnity, Co. Offaly.
Both 2 metre operation and H.F. is envisaged with the 2 metre
operation concentrating mainly on Moonbounce Experiments. The
H.F. station is expected to call into the 40 metre news today so
take a listen at news time for an up to date report of SDR's
activities.
CORK REPEATER GROUP.
--------------------
The AGM of the Cork Repeater Group was held in the Wilton Park
Hotel on Monday the 14th of March. All of the old committee
members were re-elected with the addition of EI2HY. The meeting
boasted the highest attendance since the formation of the group
and it was pleasing to note that the group was in a good
financial state. Finbar Buckley thanked EI6GY for standing in
whilst he was away in England. A formal Discussion took place
regarding the linking of a 70 cm Repeater with the existing 2
metre Repeater. A vote was taken to leave the 70 cm stand alone
with further developments to take place next year.
CORK RADIO CLUB.
----------------
The Cork Radio Club have announced that their Annual Radio,
Electronics Exhibition and Rally will take place on the 11th of
September. The reason for an early announcement is to avoid
confusion which resulted in the clash of dates with the 2 metre
counties contest last Autumn.
SLIGO AMATEUR RADIO CLUB.
-------------------------
A packet Radio Demonstration was held by the Sligo Amateur Radio
Club in the Southern Hotel, Sligo on Tuesday the 8th of March.
The meeting was well attended by amateurs and SWL's from the
Sligo Area. Great interest was shown in the operation of Packet
Radio and many questions followed the demonstration. Special
thanks to all who assisted in making the on-air demonstration
possible.

evident accommodation and tickets will soon be scarce or
