  23. R.T.T.Y. MAIL BOX AT WIRELESS HILL PARK
  24. ---------------------------------------
  25. The radio for this project is undergoing final testing  at the
  26. QTH of  ROB VK6THP ,  and after a period of OPERATIONAL activ-
  27. ity  from  Robs QTH It hoped to have it installed at  Wireless
  28. Hill park by MID APRIL
  29.  
  30. PROPOSED  SOUTH WEST DIGIPEATERS FOR THE PACKET NETWORK
  31. ------------
  32. It  is  proposed to establish a digipeater at the  MT  WILLIAM
  33. site ,  to complement the current Turner Hill digipeater.  The
  34. proposal  is  to  use  frequency of  144.850  at  Turner  HILL
  35. (presently 144.750) and to use 144.750 on MT WILLIAM
  36.  
  37. This will provide better coverage into areas such as Collie,
  38. Donnybrook and other south/west towns. Both Turner Hill and Mt
  39. William  will be linked by VHF ROSE links,  and also  back  to
  40. PERTH.  Another  advantage  of this proposal  ,  will  be  the
  41. provision  of  an alternate BBS forwarding link on 144.850  to
  42. VK6AJJ BBS
  43.  
  44. Finally  it  was decided that a general access port  be  esta-
  45. blished  at WIRELESS HILL PARK as and when time and   finances
  46. permit.  This  will  be on 2m and 70cm ,  the frequencies  for
  47. these have yet to be decided ,  after tests have been  carried
  48. out  on  site  to  determine there  will  be  no  interference
  49. generated to  existing servies who use the site.

  71. Contest  periods  are 0000-0800 UTC  Saturday,  1600-2400  UTC
  72. Saturday, and 0800-1600 UTC Sunday.

  74. Bands :  80,  40,  20, 15 and 10 metre amateur bands. The same
  75. station  may  be  contacted  once on each  band  for  QSO  and
  76. multiplier credits.

  78. Mode :  Only Amtor allowed.  Use FEC (mode B) for calling. Use
  79. ARQ  (Mode A) for exchange of contest messages.  Exchanging of
  80. contest  messages  in  FEC or in any way  other  than  ARQ  is
  81. subject to disqualification.

  95. Please  note that, because of Easter, the meeting will be  put
  96. back  a week until Friday 8th April.  This is normal  practice
  97. when  the meeting clashes with a public holiday,  and the  1st
  98. April is Good Friday.

  120.                      SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY
  121.  
  122. Solar activity was very low over the period.
  123.  
  124. The  geomagnetic  field  at Learmonth (WA)  was  unsettled  to
  125. active  on  18th,  quiet to unsettled on  19th,  unsettled  to
  126. active on 20th,  active on 21st,  unsettled to active on  22nd
  127. with a brief minor storm period, quiet to unsettled with brief
  128. active periods on 23rd and 24th March.
  129.  
  130. Ionospheric  F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were  depressed
  131. by  up  to  30 per cent during local daylight  hours  on  18th
  132. March, otherwise near predicted levels until late on 21st when
  133. frequencies  became depressed by up to 20 per cent until  22rd
  134. when conditions became enhanced by up to 20 per cent. On 24th,
  135. frequencies  were mostly near predicted monthly  values  apart
  136. from brief enhanced periods of up to 30 per cent. Spread F was
  137. observed during local night on 18th.

  139.      FORECAST FOR THE NEXT WEEK (25 -31 MARCH)

  143. GEOMAGNETIC:  Quiet to unsettled, with active periods possible
  144.               29-30 March.

  238. Paper for Teleprinters
  239. ----------------------
  240. Please,  PLEASE,  does  anyone want some teleprinter paper,  I
  241. have boxes of it.  It is triplex paper (three sheets of paper,
  242. two sheets of carbon paper),  you can have it for the cost  of
  243. freight  (you  pay the freight).  This paper will work in  any
  244. pressure  machine,  or even typewriters,  no good for  tractor
  245. machines. When you unroll it you finish up with three rolls of
  246. paper  and two rolls of carbon paper.  The paper you can  use,
  247. the carbon -- well you can give it to the children to mess  up
  248. the  house.  Don't  worry about the amount you  want,  I  have
  249. enough.
