  21. A reminder for the Gosford - Central Coast Field Day
  22.  
  23. Don't forget the Central Coast Field Day on 27th February,  at
  24. the  prestige  venue  of the Wyong Racecourse in  Howarth  St.
  25. Wyong.

  27. There  you  will meet the committee of ANARTS  -- Col  VK2CTD,
  28. President, Jim VK2BQS, Vice-President, Alan VK2DPM, Treasurer,
  29. and  Pat VK2JPA,  Broadcast Officer,  will be floating  around
  30. somewhere  with  a video camera.  (I am also a member  of  the
  31. Gladesville Amateur Radio Club specialising in ATV. Pat)

  33. Don't forget to enter the Morse contest ANARTS will be running
  34. again.  It  was  such a success last year that it  will  be  a
  35. feature of the stand again this year.  Polish your sending and
  36. receiving  skills and come along and participate in this  most
  37. historic method of amateur digital transmission.

  43. RTTY Digital Journal in new hands
  44. ---------------------------------

  46. The RTTY Digital Journal has been sold to the American Digital
  47. Radio Society (ADRS). This society has made a statement of its
  48. aims, as below -
  49.  
  50.   The principal goal of the American Digital Radio Society
  51.   is to advance digital technology as it applies to Amateur
  52.   Radio and to promote the wisest use of the digital portion
  53.   of the amateur radio spectrum. The ADRS best serves the 
  54.   global fraternity by enhancing the opportunities for all who
  55.   chose to explore the digital modes.
  56.  
  57. The editor is unchanged, being Dale Sinner W6IWO, but both the
  58. publisher, Jim Mortenson N2HOS, and Director of Marketing, Jay
  59. Townsend, WS7I are new to the publication. 
  60.  
  61. All  the regular features are continuing,  so really only  the
  62. ownership has changed.  It is seen as the voice of the digital
  63. radio fraternity, may it flourish and be heard.

  70. It  was  sad to note,  the resignation of RON,VK6RF  from  the
  71. group.  Ron  has  been a long time member of W.A.A.D.C.A  ,  a
  72. supporter of R.T.T.Y. and the sunday morning broadcasts. It is
  73. hoped  you  continue to listen ,  and report in  on  occasions
  74. please RON.
  75.  
  76. A new PACKET RADIO user port  is to be installed at WIRELESS 
  77. HILL PARK.  The operating frequency will be 144.825. This will
  78. supplement  the  users on this channel ,  as well  as  provide
  79. better traffic loading between channels.

  81. R.T.T.Y. MAIL BOX
  82. ------------------
  83. The Technical Officer JOE VK6ZTN  still has to find the time
  84. from his busy schedule to modify the fm 880 transceiver for
  85. the R.T.T.Y. mailbox to become operational.

  88. Phil has had to resign from the committee of W.A.D.C.A. due to
  89. other committments , Phil has been a tireless worker
  90. for the group . your absence will be surely be missed Phil.

  163.  
  164. Solar activity was very low 4th-9th February, and low on 10th.
  165. No flares were reported during this period.
  166.  
  167. The  geomagnetic  field  at Learmonth (WA) on 4th  was  mostly
  168. quiet with unsettled to active conditions during local  night,
  169. on  5th  was quiet to unsettled,  on 6th-7th mostly  at storm 
  170. levels.  The  field was at active to minor storm levels mostly
  171. during local night on 8th-10th February. 
  172.  
  173. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney on 4th-5th  were
  174. near  predicted monthly values to up to 30 per cent  enhanced,
  175. then  becoming near predicted monthly values to up to  30  per
  176. cent depressed during the remainder of the period.
  177.  
  178. Comment: 
  179. Strong  magnetic storm activity was observed during  Feb  6-8.
  180. This  activity  arrived  a day earlier than expected  and  was
  181. stronger than expected. Storm was due to a coronal hole.
  182.  
  183.          Forecast for the next week (11 - 17 February)
  184.  
  185. Solar   : Low to moderate.
  186.  
  187. Geomagnetic:  Active due to a coronal hole. 
  188.  
  189. Ionospheric:  Degraded  HF communications expected  all  week.
  190.              MUFs are expected to be 10-15 per cent  depressed
  191.              on IPS predicted monthly values.
