possibility of it being used at one location while it's being used at
another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the

INTRODUCTION
Thank you for taking the time to evaluate PALETTE ADJUSTER! You will find
that this utility will be most beneficial in providing you with that
custom look you have been wanting for so long but couldn't have. Those
standard 16 colors can get awful boring after a few hours. With PALETTE
ADJUSTER you can create the desire palette and have it loaded when your
computer boots up by inserting the program into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
When you start PALETTE ADJUSTER you are given a screen with all of the
default colors preset. The picklist box on the left will put a border
around your screen with the color that matches that number. Unfortunately
anything that issues a CLS or clears the screen will erase the border.
On the right hand of the screen are the 15 colors that may be adjusted.
You cannot adjust the color BLACK so it is left out. To the left of each
color is a RESET button which, when pressed will set the color back to its
original state. There are three column, R, G & B, which are RED, GREEN &
BLUE. The values that can be entered here range from 0 to 63. 0 being for
black and 63 being the brightest color allowed for its color. Hence an
entry of 63,0,0 will result in a VERY bright shade of RED. Adjust these
three numbers for each color to get the look you desire. To the right of
each value is an up and down arrow. Press or click on these to raise or
lower the value and watch the color change instantly.
If you have a monochrome monitor press on the SWAP GREY SCALE PALETTE
button to change the colors to their respective shades of grey. Press it
again to switch the palette back.
Once you have the colors desired simply press or click on the OK button and
the palette will be saved to a file named CUSTOM.PAL. If you hit CANCEL
the palette will not be saved and your screen will revert to what it was
before. If you delete this file you will need to start your color
selection over.
Most programs will use your new palette but there are others that will
operate on their own. Quattro Pro(DOS Version) for example will completely
reset the palette but WordPerfect 5.1 will use the standard palette and
restore yours when you exit.
If you wish to load PALETTE ADJUSTER in your autoexec.bat you need to copy
the PAL.EXE and the CUSTOM.PAL files to your root directory and insert the
line:
PAL /L
into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. To revert back to the original 16 colors at
any time type in PAL /R to reset them.
Hope you enjoy this handy dandy screen utility and don't forget to register
if you like it!
ATTENTION SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS!!!
You to can take advantage of PALETTE ADJUSTER by using it to adjust the
colors in your applications! Look for the ZIP file PALD15.ZIP for the
developers version of PALETTE ADJUSTER. It contains the same files plus
a linkable C++ library. It contains the SMALL library for BORLAND C++ 3.1.
Upon ordering you will receive all of the memory models.
The function is quite simple, just make the following calls in your C++
program:
do_palette(0); //Load and let user select colors;
do_palette(1); //Reset to boring 16 color palette
do_palette(2); //Load palette and return to your program
It makes a great "First Impression" on your users!
See the REGISTER.DOC file for pricing details.
