  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The State of Georgia uses the Social Security Number as the license
  5.   number for most licensees. Though, at the driver's request, Georgia
  6.   will  issue a  nine  (9)  character, sequentially  generated number
  7.   bearing no correlation to the driver's personal identifiers.

  10.   DOCUMENT:
  11.   The  plastic laminated  photographic license  manufactured by  NBS,
  12.   Imaging Systems  Division, displays the driver's  photograph on the
  13.   right side, sometimes running fully from top to bottom. The Georgia
  14.   State  seal  straddles  the  left   edge  of  the  photograph.  The
  15.   governor's  and  commissioner's  signatures  should  appear  on the
  16.   license.

  19.   TERM:
  20.   License  is valid  for four   (4) years,  expiring on  the driver's
  21.   birthday. An honorary veteran's license may be updated by a sticker
  22.   affixed to the obverse side of the license.

  25.   MINORS:
  26.   Licenses  issued  to  minors  show   "UNDER  21"  in  vertical  red
  27.   overlapping the left edge of the photograph.

  30.   CDL:
  31.   Commercial licenses show a yellow "GEORGIA" (the regular license is
  32.   in green) followed by "COMMERCIAL LICENSE", or "COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S
  33.   LICENSE" in smaller black letters. "COMMERCIAL LICENSE" should also
  34.   appear across the data area in yellow letters.
