  1.   CALIFORNIA HELP
  2.  
  3.   This module will  assist you in determining when  (or if) a license
  4.   was issued  by the State of  California. Enter a license  number in
  5.   the first field and press <enter>.
  6.  
  7.   If  the license  number series  was located  within the  California
  8.   database, the  program will fill  the next field  with the starting
  9.   date of issue, and the last field with the ending date of issue for
  10.   the series  of the license number  you entered. A license  with the
  11.   number entered  will have been issued  on or between the  two dates
  12.   showing.
  13.  
  14.   If  the  number  entered  is  not  located  within  the  California
  15.   database, the  program will fill the  second field with 'UN-FOUND',
  16.   and the  last field with the  ending date in our  program database.
  17.   The database covers all license  series issued from January 2, 1944
  18.   forward. To test the currency of the database in your copy of USDL,
  19.   just press <enter> with the  License Number field empty. The bottom
  20.   window will show the most current date on file.

  22.   You  may  access  additional  California  reference  information by
  23.   invoking  the reference  file. Do  this by  accessing the  menu and
  24.   choosing  the  More  command.  This  feature  may also be activated
  25.   easily by pressing <Ctrl-M> for MORE.

  27.   If you have the automatic print feature activated, the program will
  28.   direct  a report  to the  default printer  concurrently with screen
  29.   output  each time  you press   <enter>. Likewise,  if you  have the
  30.   automatic  file  output  feature  enabled,  your  disk file will be
  31.   appended (or created) concurrently with  the screen output. You may
  32.   enable both of these options at the same time if you like.

  34.   If you choose to leave the automatic print output disabled, you may
  35.   still  generate a  print of  the report  showing on  the screen  by
  36.   accessing  the  menu  and  choosing  the  RapidPrint  command. This
  37.   feature may be  activated more easily by pressing  <Ctrl-P>. A copy
  38.   of the report  showing will be immediately directed  to the default
  39.   printer.

  41.   When you  have finished performing inquiries  for California, press
  42.   the escape key  to return to the main  program selection screen. To
  43.   exit the program quickly, you should press <Ctrl-X>.

  45.   When you have finished reading this help file, press the escape key
  46.   to return to the California module.
