  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The  State of  Arkansas usually  uses the  driver's Social Security
  5.   Number as  the license number. However,  at the licensee's request,
  6.   they will assign a nine digit  numeric license number that bears no
  7.   correlation to the driver's  personal identifiers. Assigned numbers
  8.   conform to a checksum algorithm that the State holds confidential.

  11.   DOCUMENT:
  12.   The laminated, photographic license is manufactured by NBS, Imaging
  13.   Systems  Division. The  driver's  photograph  appears in  the lower
  14.   right corner of  the license, and a red  Arkansas state seal should
  15.   straddle the left edge of  the photograph. The camera number should
  16.   appear next to the photograph as well.

  19.   TERM:
  20.   Licenses issued during or subsequent to January, 1990 are valid for
  21.   a period  of four  (4) years,  expiring on  the driver's  birthday.
  22.   Licenses  issued  prior  to  1990  are  valid  for  four (4) years,
  23.   expiring at the end of the issue month.

  26.   MINORS:
  27.   Licenses issued  subsequent to July,  1991 show "UNDER  21" printed
  28.   above the driver's photograph. Licenses issued between January 1990
  29.   and June 1991 show a box  with "UNDER 21" printed diagonally across
  30.   the  textual  portion  of  the  license.  Licenses  issued prior to
  31.   January 1990 display no special indication of minor status.

  34.   CDL:
  35.   Commercial  drivers licenses  use a  gold colored  backdrop for the
  36.   driver's  photograph,  and  display  the  letters  "CDL"  above the
  37.   photograph as well.
