  125. 1. What This System Does.
  126.  
  127.    This application allows you to look up items and order them as you 
  128.    require. The order is printed and sent to a standard ascii text file 
  129.    which can be imported into most fax software for transmission. Notice
  130.    the text file number which is indicated when the order is created if
  131.    you wish to import the ascii file into other software.
  132.  
  133.    Your selections of goods are recorded. When you access the order 
  134.    creation option you will be given the opportunity to clear all previous
  135.    selections. Repeat orders can easily be generated with the minimum of
  136.    effort without the need to re-select goods. However if each of your
  137.    orders is completely different simply clear down your selections every
  138.    time you generate a new order.
  139.  
  140.    Use of this software application should help to reduce the administrative 
  141.    burden associated with generating your purchase orders and help your
  142.    supplier to provide a more efficient service to you. Machine generated
  143.    order forms will reduce costly and time consuming mistakes and 
  144.    should ensure you actually receive what you require in the fastest
  145.    possible time.

  187. THE ELECTRONIC PRICE BOOK CUSTOMER MODULE - GETTING STARTED . 
  188. -------------------------------------------------------------

  190. It is a condition of use that everyone who intends to use this software
  191. must read the licence agreement, [Licence Agreement For Electronic Price
  192. Book Customer Module] and must agree to be bound by it in full.
  193.                                
  194. The software can not be used legally by anyone who does not accept the
  195. licence agreement.
  196.  
  197. 1.0  Installation. 
  198.  
  199.      1.1. At the DOS prompt of your PC (Probably C:\) Type CD \ and 
  200.           press <enter>. 
  201.  
  202.      1.2. Type MD GOODS and press <enter>. 
  203.  
  204.      1.3. Type CD \GOODS and press <enter>. 
  205.  
  206.      1.4. Insert the Installation diskette into your diskette drive with 
  207.           the label pointing up and the 'open' end going into the PC. It
  208.           is highly recommended at this point that a virus checker be used
  209.           to check for viruses on the distribution diskette(s). 
  210.      
  211.      1.5. Copy the contents of the diskette from the appropriate drive 
  212.           e.g. COPY A:*.* Press <enter> if your disk drive is A: 
  213.  
  214.           Wait until the files have been copied.
  215.  
  216.      1.6. At the DOS prompt type ORDER and press <enter>. 
  217.                 
  218. 2.0  Entering The PRICE BOOK CUSTOMER MODULE and Printing The System 
  219.      Instructions.
  220.  
  221.      2.1. Make sure your printer is switched on and has a supply of paper.
  222.         
  223.      2.2. Make sure your printer cable is plugged into the back of your PC 
  224.           and into your printer.
  225.  
  226.           If the printer is not plugged into the first parallel port of 
  227.           your PC then you may need to re-direct your print output from
  228.           the first parallel port. 
  229.  
  230.          e.g. Type MODE LPT1:=COM1 at the DOS prompt then press <enter>.
  231.          Then type MODE COM1:9600,n,8,1,p  and press <enter> if your 
  232.          printer is connected to your first serial PC port and has a 
  233.          default configuration of 9600 baud rate, no parity, 8 data 
  234.          bits and 1 stop bit.

  246.          Insert these lines in your AUTOEXEC.BAT with the appropriate 
  247.          options to suit your printer (if they are required) and reboot
  248.          your PC to redirect the output from the first parallel port if
  249.          this is necessary. 
  250.          
  251.          Consult the section in your DOS manual which explains the MODE 
  252.          command if you are having problems with the connection  between 
  253.          your PC and printer, alternatively consult your PC and/or 
  254.          printer supplier. 
  255.  
  256.      2.3  Make sure your printer is on line. 
  257.  
  258.      2.4  Select the 'User Guide' option on the 'Quit' menu using the 
  259.           <right arrow>, <down arrow> and <enter> keys. Elect to print the 
  260.           user manual by entering a 'P' for print. 
  261.  
  262.           If there are problems printing press the <escape> key until
  263.           the PRICE BOOK CUSTOMER MODULE has been exited. Then re-boot 
  264.           your P.C. (switch it off then after a wait of at least 10 
  265.           seconds switch it back on again). 
  266.  
  267.           If in doubt, consult your PC user guide to find out the 
  268.           recommended minimum time delay between switching off and
  269.           switching on again.
  270.  
  271.           Repeat steps 1.3, 1.6 and 2.0 to 2.4. If problems still persist 
  272.           with the printer then consult your Printer user guide for a
  273.           diagnosis of the problem.

  305. 3. Accessing And Navigating Around The System.

  307. In the relevant directory (probably C:\ORDER) type ORDER and press <enter>.
  308.  
  309. To make selections from the menu's use the <uparrow>, <downarrow> 
  310. keys to highlight the relevant menu choice then press the <enter> 
  311. key to make a selection. 
  312.  
  313. Alternatively, press the number of the relevant menu choice.
  314.  
  315. Use the <right> and <left> arrows to move between menus.
  316.  
  317. Use the <up/down arrow> keys to cursor between fields and press
  318. <F4> to confirm a screen entry or cursor beyond the last field on 
  319. the screen. In most cases the <escape> key allows entries to be 
  320. cancelled i.e. not saved. In selection boxes use the <uparrow>, 
  321. <downarrow> and <pageup>, <pagedown> keys to cursor through choices. 
  322. Make a selection with the <enter> key or cancel the selection box 
  323. with the <escape> key. 
  324.  
  325. Throughout the application help is available from the <F1> key. 
  326. Read the prompts given on the screen for advice about valid entries.
  327. Take special care to save any changes you make. Throughout the 
  328. application <F4> is used to confirm (i.e. save) any alteration. 
  329. <Escape> is used to cancel a change. You can not cancel a change which
  330. you have already saved. You will need to change the data back and save
  331. it again.

  1027. In the unlikely event that data starts to go missing from your price book 
  1028. simply run this option to rebuild your indexes. These are used to access
  1029. the data quickly and to sort it in order. In rare circumstances the indexes
  1030. may become corrupted. It should only take a few minutes to rebuild the 
  1031. indexes    depending on the size of the price book and the speed of your PC.
  1032. This is a multi user application. Any number of users can access this 
  1033. application simultaneously on a network. However you will need to get all
  1034. other users out of the application before index re-building can begin.
