Copyrights and License Agreement
────────────────────────────────
- When we refer to the FDL- and FDP-package, we mean the program
called FileDoor <tm> and all related documentation, support files
and such, as combined in the release package;
- Users of the FDL-package must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
- The FDL-package is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the
warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The
author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
which may result from the use of the FDL-package;
- The FDL-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at no
charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your
friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
another system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to
provide personal computer users with quality software without high
prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to continue to
develop new products.
- If you find this program useful and find that you are using and
continue the use of the FDL-package after a 30 days trial period,
you must register the FDL-package as described below;
- Non-commercial can get a license for the usage of the FDL-package
for a small amount of money. Look into the details in REGISTER.FDL.
For Non-commercial users there is a POSSIBILITY to submit to one of
the special contracts as explained in the file REGISTER.FDL.
- Commercial usage of FDL will cost somewhat more. Also, a so called
'closed' Bulletin Board System (a system where the user must pay
direct to the SysOp to get full access) is has to pay more than a
Non-commercial user. Both types of users should look into the
details in REGISTER.FDL;
- The registration of the FDL-package will license ONE copy for use on
any computer at any one time, as long as the usage confirms to the
type of registration you have done (so NON-commercial usage when you
have a non-commercial license);
- Anyone distributing the FDL-package for any kind of remuneration
must first contact the Author at the address above for
authorization.
- You are encouraged to pass a copy of the FDL-package along to
your friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register
their copy if they find that they can use it;
- Support on FDL, when used in a non-commercial environment, is
available by means of written letters or by entering the inter-
national echomail area DISP;
- Problems and suggestions can be entered in the FidoNet <tm> Echomail
conference <tm> called DISP (international). Entering this echo does
not exclude you of the duty to register the FDL-package, though
users who evaluate the product can enter the echo for questions;
- The FDL-package, all programs, the documentation and support-files
is copyrighted 1990,94 by Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131,
Badhoevedorp 1170AC, Holland. All rights are reserved. You may copy
this package for backup purposes. Also you may copy and share
unmodified copies of the whole package, providing that the copyright
notice is reproduced and included on all copies.
Excluded from this statement are the support-files written by other
authors. Please refer to the documentation of these programs for
copyrights and license agreements;
- It is forbidden to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer,
decompile and/or disassemble the software in the FDL-package.
Patching the medium at places that carry the software is seen as a
program change and is also forbidden. It is forbidden to create a so
called 'bypass' to skip the original introduction screens and delay.
Also it is forbidden to use such a 'bypass' unless supplied by the
author (Robert W. van Hoeven) himself;
- Performing any of the illegal actions as stated in the previous
lines, is a theft and no fair play to the author and, more
important, to the registered users;
- Bulletin Board Systems that distribute the FDL package can convert
the WHOLE package to any archive-system they like but all original
files must be included in the new archive. The FDL-package on the
Bulletin Board can contain at the most 2 extra files. These files
can only be a commercial for that Bulletin Board and/or validation
data that is presented as a service to all users and shall have no
other functions;
- After the normal trial period of 30 days, you must register the
soft- ware (see REGISTER.FDL) or you must remove it from your PC;
- Comments, suggestions and bug reports are welcome and will be
answered as soon I have the time to do so. You can send me a letter
of leave a NetMail <tm> message named to Rob Van.hoeven (mind the
point) on node 2:281/904 (PB Support, Monster, Holland, SysOp is
Reinier de Groot). When you want to send me normal mail, address it
to: Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131, 1171 AC Badhoevedorp,
Holland; Also you can enter messages in the FidoNet <tm> DISP
Echomail <tm> area;
Registration information
────────────────────────────────────
There are several ways to register the usage of the FDL-package. All
is depending on the environment where FDL will be running.
NON-Commercial registration
────────────────────────────────────
When you use FDL in a non-commercial environment, you must pay for a
license to use FDL. Payment of the registration fee entitles you to:
- The license for running 1 copy of the FDL-package in a non-commercial
environment on 1 computer at any one time;
- A diskette with the latest copy of the FDL-package on 5 1/4 or 3 1/2
inch diskette (360/720 Kb, 1.2/1.44Mb);
- A special file to enter the name of the owner (company) in the
header of FDL. This file can be used on subsequent releases, also
those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS;
The price for a non-commercial license is US $ 35,--. So called 'closed
BBS's' have to read the chapter on Commercial registration.
Commercial registration
────────────────────────────────────
When you use FDL in a commercial environment or when you use FDL on a
so called 'closed' BBS (this is a BBS where the users must pay to the
Sysop to get full access), you must pay for a license to use FDL.
This is only the case when you actually make money (you are a business
coorporation or a firm) from the BBS or the BBS is a backup for other
items you sell in a commercial way (support BBS).
Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
- The license for running ONE copy of the FDL-package in a commercial
environment on any computer at any one time;
- A diskette with the latest copy of the FDL-package on 5 1/4 or 3 1/2
inch diskette (360/720 Kb, 1.2/1.44Mb);
- A special file to enter the name of the owner (company) in the
header of FDL. This file can be used on subsequent releases, also
those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS;
- The license for a 'closed' BBS can not be used in any other commer-
cial environment than the BBS itself. Upgrading to a 'normal' com-
mercial license can be done by paying the difference in price;
The price for a commercial license is US $ 90,-- for a normal
commercial user.
Update service
────────────────────────────────────
Both commercial AND non-commercial users can enter the update ser-
vice. International users who use FDL commercial or non-commercial
will benefit most of this feature. Paying the fee for update service,
entitles you to:
- Receiving every new release (minor AND major) for the period of one
year or 5 releases (which ever comes first) on diskette media by
first-class Airmail;
- The updates will be send the same day the new release is submitted
to the support BBS (2:281/904 in Holland);
- The diskettes are first-class (no no-name or white diskettes) and
will contain a special diskette label;
The price for update service is US $ 15,-- for 3 1/2 inch diskettes
and US $ 20,-- for 5 1/4 inch diskettes.
Paying
────────────────────────────────────
- By postal money order or international money order. Normal cheques
(if they are not EuroCheques) will cost me extra money to transfer,
so add US $ 10,-- for transfer if you use such a cheque. Cheques
that can not be collected within a reasonable time, are returned to
the sender;
- EuroCheque written out to :
Robert W. van Hoeven
Badhoevedorp
EuroCheques MUST be written in your OWN or dutch currency and NOT in
US $ currency ! Don't forget your number on the back;
- Giro-cheques (only dutch) written out to the name above;
- Sending money directly, but please make sure you send it with some
kind of safety, so you can make sure yourself that I received the
money. When you send money, you can also send money in your own
currency, but make sure to use a valid exchange rate. This is the
exchange rate on the day you send the money to me;
In NO way I can accept credit-card transfers. If you are not sure,
please contact me by normal mail !
Dutch users can also pay in dutch money. Transfer the amount of dutch
money in one of the above ways. Use the exchange rate on the day of
transfer as found in the newspaper of that day).
