  4. Folks: I'm astonished! Ross Perot spent most of his time on 
  5. "Larry King Live" on CNN about a week ago explaining what it
  6. would take to get him to run, and what he thought needed to 
  7. be done if he were to be given the chance. If you didn't see
  8. it, you should bug your local TV station, or contact CNN, to
  9. get a video of the discussion - it was most thought- provok-
  10. ing, and made a supporter out of me! Jim B in OKC

  15. You're right. We need to knock Congress on its ear. I will  
  16. vote for anyone that makes sense. I don't care what party   
  17. they belong to. Actually, I'd prefer independents that won't
  18. sacrafice their own values and good judgment for the sake of
  19. pleasing the party, or, go along with the party line. There 
  20. is too much energy spent on keeping or gaining power for a  
  21. party. >>                                                   
  22. When I worked for Mr. Perot, he made it clear that he hated 
  23. office politics. He used to say "If it makes sense, DO IT!  
  24. If you see a snake, KILL IT!"                               
  25.                                                             
  26. We need people in Congress that are willing to kill snakes  
  27. rather than those that are will sell out their values to the
  28. power of their party.

  62. Clark:  I wasn't aware that there was any movement afoot to 
  63. draft Ross.  The very thought of that little bantam rooster 
  64. in the White House and taking on the old entrenched         
  65. politicos is so pleasing that it makes me laugh outloud.  I 
  66. did hear that Ross favored Tsonga's economic plan over the  
  67. others.  I'm supporting Tsongas but if Ross gets in there,

  76. children " should not be wasted in a war over oil. Also said
  77. that he would use his own money for getting elected.

  84. Anyone who saw Ross Perot on the 8 AM 3/22 C SPAN interview 
  85. (it will be repeated there..) knows that HE is a serious    
  86. candidate IF WE ARE serious. Only if WE the PEOPLE get him  
  87. on the ballot in all 50 states within the allotted time     
  88. frame in each state - only then will he run. He will run    
  89. hard! Wants no money except for $5 from each person. His top
  90. priority is JOBS so that people can be self sufficient and  
  91. proud of their work. He will name a VP almost immediatley - 
  92. "someone more qualified" than he is, not "an empty suit".   
  93. Must understand economy and debt, unlike present leaders.

  95. Perot is an Independent - owes nothing to anybody. He will  
  96. spend whatever it takes to run a first class campaign - no  
  97. phony stuff - no formal dinners at $1,000 a plate to grant  
  98. favors and get favors. Our present status is that we have   
  99. another 400 billion in debt this year, making our total debt
  100. now 4 Trillion. By 2000, the natl INTEREST on the debt could
  101. consume the entire $ of the USA. TAX REFORM is vital, he    
  102. says. Should be simple and fair. Perot is critical of our   
  103. System, not as much of the people caught up in the system.  
  104. If we don't change thee System, things will get worse no    
  105. matter who we elect.

  109. PErot pledges to bring the issues to the people OFTEN       
  110. through electronic media and to listen to the responses of  
  111. the PEOPLE. HE wants the words MADE IN USA to stand for     
  112. EXCELLENCE around the world . He believes when people know  
  113. more about the issues, theya nd people who have EXPERIENCE  
  114. (not politicians) will come up with the best solutions.     
  115. RE WAR: First you discuss with the nation and IF THE PEOPLE 
  116. believe war is the best answer, then you declare war. Not   
  117. like Iraq, where we used Hussein to do our work... then when
  118. he went too far, war happened. THINK AHEAD ON ALL ISSUES is 
  119. what I get from him. Eventually, when crisis issues are     
  120. dealt with, I believe life enhancement issues will follow.  
  121. But he says we must begin IMMEDIATELY to resolve the        
  122. problems which affect ALL of us. If no jobs, then no taxes, 
  123. then no......First we turn this country around and resolve  
  124. probs one by one with input from American people.

  132. H. Ross Perot is an unbelievable man.  Anyone interested in 
  133. reading about him should get the book, "On The Wings of     
  134. Eagles" by Ken Follet.  Follet is usually a fiction writer, 
  135. but he wrote this non-fiction work about Ross and his       
  136. efforts to get two of the men who worked for him in Iran out
  137. of jail there just prior to our "hostage" crisis.  He is    
  138. unbelievable.  If there was EVER someone you could believe  
  139. in, he is it.  He has sense, he is honest, he is everything 
  140. that government SHOULD be and ALL that it is not!           
  141. I signed on tonight specifically to see if there was a board
  142. on this subject so that I could find out where and how I    
  143. could work for him in Arizona.  I will call the 800 number  
  144. as soon as I sign off.                                      
  145. I URGE EVERYONE WHO EVER BECAME DISENCHANTED WITH POLITICS  
  146. TO FIND OUT ABOUT H. ROSS PEROT.

  167.  Sherrill, I'am 35 and have not voted in a presidential     
  168. election yet. Given the choice of candidates my reasons were
  169. obvious. But I've long admired Mr. Perot,and after reading  
  170. this closeup board I'am not alone. If he gets signed up in  
  171. all 50 states this will be the first time in my life I'll   
  172. get to vote. Spread the word and maybe we can make a        
  173. difference, if not for us then our children. michael in N.J.

  180. Allen, You make some good points! I have just watched the   
  181. replay of Perot's address to the Press Club, taped on the   
  182. 18th. I had seen very little of him previously, but I must  
  183. say, I liked what I heard! What is not to like? He certainly
  184. seems to understand the need for radical change. I believe  
  185. that he has the country's problems in scope. He doesn't over
  186. simplify the problems, but he has very simple, well thought-
  187. out, common  sense  solutions, to get us off square one! I  
  188. have been a Buchanan  supporter, for the  lack of a better  
  189. option, but my first impression of Ross Perot, is, the he is
  190. far and away, the best option yet! I would like to hear more
  191. of him,  more  about  changes he would  make,  more about a 
  192. platform.  If he is what he seemed to be, he would be great 
  193. for the country!

  203. Isn't it time, that we cease  to allow  political parties to
  204. dictate who we must  vote for?  I agree with Perot, that the
  205. parties are the  power that produces "politics as usual!" We
  206. need something  different. He is a breath  of fresh air!  He
  207. even caught my wife's ear.  That  takes  some doing!  Unless
  208. there are chinks in his armour that have not  come to light,

  220. Yes! Yes! I believe!  It didn't take him long to convert me!
  221. I am a registered  Republican,  but I am not happy with what
  222. either party has to offer.I have supported Pat Buchanan, but
  223. the party machine has pretty much squashed his candidacy. He
  224. is a good man, and I would still  support him over any other
  225. candidate from  either party, but Mr. Perot puts forward the
  226. most common sense  measures that I have ever heard, from any
  227. politician, if you could  classify him as a  politician!  He
  228. will qualify if he throws his hat into the  ring, but in the
  229. past, he has  not behaved  like a politician.  If he has had
  230. long-standing  designs on political office, he has certainly
  231. kept the secret well! Bless him! He just might be this coun-
  232. try's political savior!

  241. How truly exciting it is to know that it appears more       
  242. hopeful every day that Ross Perot will run for president as 
  243. a 3rd party candidate.  It is time that all of              
  244. us--Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and those who     
  245. reside outside of these groups--seek an alternative to the  
  246. stultifying status quo mentality which pervades our         
  247. government today.

  249. Spread the word, friends--Perot is the medicine which this  
  250. ailing country needs!  We have a golden opportunity to      
  251. affect positive change.

  260. himself with eighter party if he runs for office.  He has   
  261. refused to run a PARTY agenda.  I have seen a lot about

  285. gratifying to finally have some hope that we can get someone
  286.  in the White House who can put this country back on track.

  296. You're not alone by a long shot. I'm just as impressed as   
  297. you are. Mr. Perot has promised that he will make a run for 
  298. the White House if a grass roots effort gets his name on the 
  299. ballots in all 50 states. I believe he is a man of his      
  300. word.I'm going to the Sec'y of State in Ala. to find out how
  301. I can gt signatures to enter his name on our ballot. If you 
  302. would do the same in your state and others would also,<pgdn>

  304. Perot to run and, 2) It would get some peopl who have never 
  305. really participated in the election process, other than

  329.     I believe the political establishment, including the    
  330. news media, should take Perot much more seriously than it   
  331. does today. He is potentially a more serious threat to the  
  332. two major party candidates than were the last two           
  333. independent candidates, George Wallace in 1968 and John     
  334. Anderson in 1980.                                           
  335.     Perot must clear two hurdles.                           
  336.     First, he must get on all 50 ballots (Perot's condition 
  337. for running at all). That is a daunting task, but both      
  338. Wallace and Anderson were able to accomplish it when the    
  339. rules were slightly more restrictive than they are today.   
  340.     Second, he must convince Americans they would not waste 
  341. their votes on him--something neither Wallace nor Anderson  
  342. could accomplish. But Wallace was never really more than a  
  343. sectarian and regional candidate, while Anderson fell into  
  344. the trap of sounding like a conventional candidate.

  353. therefore he must be able to manage a budget and knows how  
  354. to save money. Maybe he is the leadership America needs to  
  355. clean out Washington and make America live again.

  361. Jack -- I'm not only interested in getting Perot on the     
  362. ballot in S.C. -- I want him on the ballot in all States..  
  363.   I'm in the process of trying to find out who to contact in
  364. Florida to offer my help here to that end.                  
  365.   I suspect there are people like me in every State and     
  366. suggest *P members in every State who know anything about a 
  367. Perot movement in their State immediately post a bulletin  >
  368. to ALL advising them who to contact to participate.         
  369.   If the mass of ordinary citizens, fed up with self serving
  370. party politics, don't get going NOW, we'll suffer 4 more    
  371. years of decline and ultimate disaster, whichever one  of   
  372. the primary candidates is elected in Nov. If we don't get a 
  373. "non-political" competent manager in the White House in '92,
  374. who is without any political party-special interest         
  375. obligations, we will risk getting some charismatic political
  376. opportunist in '96 with an emotional appeal to disenchanted 
  377. Americans -- who may be either another Huey Long or a Hitler
