  10. claims no membership in The Jihad to Destroy Barney the Dinosaur nor in 
  11. any of its Jihad Autonomous Organizations.  The League claims no dominion 
  12. in The Jihad, and it rejects any Jihad control over League activities.

  58. ORIGINS:
  59.  
  60. The League has its origins in The Jihad to Destroy Barney the 
  61. Dinosaur, which began on August 18, 1993.  However, due to great 
  62. dissatisfaction with the direction of the Jihad, one if its members, 
  63. Wayne Syvinski, resigned and formed a new anti-Barney group on October 
  64. 29, 1994.  October 29 shall hereafter be known as League Independence 
  65. Day, and August 18 known as Founder's Day.
  66.  
  67. The reasons for the split are as follows:
  68.  
  69.         1.  A strong dislike for pseudo-theology and the illicit use of 
  70.         religious terms.
  71.  
  72.         2.  A severe departure from the original ideas and ideals of the 
  73.         Jihad to Destroy Barney, and a realization that such could not be 
  74.         preserved in the current structure and atmosphere of the Jihad.
  75.  
  76.         3.  A distaste for the pseudomilitarist activity in the Jihad.
  77.  
  78.         4.  The preference of Jihaddi for flaming people rather than 
  79.         criticizing ideas.
  80.  
  81. NATURE AND OPERATION OF THE LEAGUE:
  82.  
  83. The League to Destroy Barney the Dinosaur, in keeping with the original 
  84. spirit of the Jihad to Destroy Barney, is dedicated ENTIRELY to intellectual 
  85. and philosophical discourse against Barney.  In fact, the League is also 
  86. known as "The Jihad of the Old Ways[tm]."  Its members are known as 
  87. *Preceptors*.  There is no pseudomilitarist activity allowed WHATSOEVER.
  88.  
  89. Due to the strong historical and ideological ties of the League to the 
  90. Jihad, The League considers itself historically, and in large part 
  91. philosophically, part of the Jihad.  However, this tie does not extend to 
  92. its authority structure.  This idea is expressed in our use of the word 
  93. 'jihad'.  That it, the 'jihad' is the original ideal and mission of 
  94. August 18, 1993.  The original jihad now has two historical outgrowths:  
  95. The Jihad (whose members are "Jihaddi"), and The League (whose members are 
  96. "Preceptors").  The members of both groups are 'jihaddi'.  We use this 
  97. terminology to emphasize The League's tie to the Jihad's original 
  98. ideals.
  99.  
  100. The League will not have its primary operation in  
  101. alt.barney.dinosaur.die.die.die.  Rather, operations will be 
  102. conducted in alt.tv.dinosaurs.barney.die.die.die.  This may change 
  103. according to newsgroup availability on different servers.  
  104.  
  105. The League need not be monolithic - a confederation of affiliated groups, 
  106. all coming under the auspices of The League, is welcome and encouraged.  
  107. These affiliated groups will be known as Confederated League Organizations
  108. (CLOs)   The League has its immediate roots in The Ancient Guild of Jihad 
  109. Philosophers, as per its ideals and primary modus operandi.  In this 
  110. spirit, I hereby open the first CLO, The Ancient Order of League 
  111. Philosophers.  
  112.  
  113. *PRIMARY STIPULATIONS* OF THE LEAGUE:
  114.  
  115.         The Primary Stipulations[tm] of The League to Destroy B'harni the 
  116. Dinosaur represent the primary points of ideological difference with the 
  117. Jihad to Destroy Barney the Dinosaur, with the exception of Stipulation 
  118. 1, upon which The League and The Jihad agrees.  In other words, 
  119. Stipulations 2-5 are where The League and The Jihad have most of their 
  120. differences.

  122. 1.  A dislike for B'harni is strictly required.
  123.  
  124. 2.  No pseudomilitarist activity is allowed.
  125.  
  126. 3.  No pseudotheology or co-opting of any religious terminology is allowed.
  127.  
  128. 4.  All responses to those posting in favor of B'harni must contain lucid 
  129. commentary.
  130.  
  131. 5.  Preceptors are to consider The League to be the repository and 
  132. preserver of The Old Ways[tm] of the Jihad to Destroy B'harni the 
  133. Dinosaur, as per the spirit of the earliest days of the Jihad.

  135. *CENTRAL TENETS* OF THE LEAGUE:
  136.  
  137.         Some notes are in order here.  The Central Tenets[tm] of The 
  138. League are derived from The Central Truths[tm] of the Jihad.  The 
  139. League's Central Tenets are in line with the Primary Stipulations and The 
  140. Old Ways[tm].  A short comparison of terms is in order, however.

  153.         a.  B'harni is extremely insipid and inspires the same in its 
  154.         followers.
  155.         b.  B'harni seeks a vast expansion of its dominion.
  156.         c.  B'harni must be eliminated.  All League activity is to be 
  157.         conducted in light of this statement.

  159. 2.  The Threefold Corollary
  160.  
  161.         a.  Minions cannot survive without B'harni.
  162.         b.  B'harni cannot survive without minions.
  163.         c.  Therefore, attacks against B'harni are effective against 
  164.         minions, and attacks against minions are effective against B'harni.
  165.  
  166. 3.  The Corollary Social
  167.  
  168.         a.  No topics of a political nature are to be discussed by 
  169.         members of The Leauge while acting in their capacity as Preceptors.
  170.         b.  There is strictly NO bastardization of religious terminology 
  171.         or theology allowed.
  172.         c.  No commentary of global, foreign, or domestic societal 
  173.         conditions are to be discussed except inasmuch as they relate to 
  174.         B'harni's influence on society and/or B'harni's demise.

  176. AWARDS AND HONORS OF THE LEAGUE:
  177.  
  178.         -STAR OF THE PHILOSOPHER
  179.  
  180.         The *Star of the Philosopher* is bestowed upon Preceptors for 
  181. posts of EXCEPTIONAL clarity, lucidity, and insight which, in the 
  182. judgement of the League High Council, become part of the very fabric of 
  183. the League's philosophical base due to the landmark nature of said posts.

  185.         Signification:  SP
  186.  
  187.         -STAR OF THE SCHOLAR
  188.  
  189.         Similar to the Star of the Philosopher, except that this award 
  190. is bestowed upon the initative of the Sage Primus alone.  It may be 
  191. awarded for posts which, while significant, do not quite make landmark 
  192. status.  
  193.  
  194.         Signification:  SS
  195.  
  196.         -SEMPER FIDELIS MEDAL
  197.  
  198.         This award is bestowed upon Preceptors who show unswerving 
  199. loyalty to the Old Ways[tm] of the jihad, which are the ways of The 
  200. League, over an extended period of time, hence the name "Semper Fidelis" 
  201. - "Always Faithful".  The Magistrate-General must recommend the candidate 
  202. before the League High Council will consider the Preceptor for this 
  203. award.

  208. PARTING NOTES:
  209.  
  210. It is realized that The League will likely not become as large or as 
  211. far-reaching as The Jihad.  That, however, is immaterial.  The League was 
  212. formed in an effort to preserve the original ideals and spirit - The Old 
  213. Ways[tm] - of The Jihad.  To this end, no affiliation is claimed with The 
  214. Jihad whatsoever, in order to preserve League autonomy.
