  1. This is a simple utility that will install the Joshi Virus to
  2. a 360K floppy disk.  No other disk type is recommended, as 
  3. damage to any data on that disk will most likely result.  This
  4. utility is prompt-driven.  You answer a couple of questions,
  5. and verify that you want to infect a disk, then it does it.
  6. It's that simple.  
  7.  
  8. Warning:  This program has only been tested for use on 
  9. MS-DOS 3.3 Disks.  If you choose to use this on another
  10. version of DOS, you may find that the resulting disk won't 
  11. successfully boot the virus.  I doubt this will be the case, but
  12. since it hasn't been tested on other versions, who really knows?

  14. Also:  You should get a recent and reputable virus scanner capable
  15. of detecting Joshi and removing it, BEFORE you run this utility.
  16. If things were to get out of hand later, you'd be prepared.  It's
  17. YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to see to it that you control your experiments
  18. within the confines of your own machine, on well-marked, and 
  19. frequently SCANned disks.

  21. Also, this program is to be distributed by the author only.  You
  22. were granted a copy by me, as a restricted user of the program.
  23. Do not copy this file for anyone else.  This would be VERY
  24. irresponsible, and quite dangerous if given to an untrustworthy
  25. person with other motives in mind than simple experimentation on
  26. his/her *own* machine.  If you do decide to distribute this
  27. program to some other person, you jeopardize my trust in you.
  28. This assures you that I WILL NOT be so trusting (and naive) to
  29. give you future versions of this program with other viruses to
  30. experiment with.  Respect these requests, and I will be much more
  31. likely to contact you with future/new improved releases for *your
  32. personal* experimentation.

  34. Note: The author/programmer has no connection with the original
  35. authorship of the Joshi Virus.  I also DO NOT condone the intentional
  36. or unintentional spreading of any virus to machines which are not
  37. your own.  This is vandalism, and is illegal, as well as immoral.
  38. The only reason you have access to this program is because you are
  39. trusted by the author, and you have Requested a copy of it for your
  40. own experimentation.

  42. Finally, this virus is a hard disk Master Boot Record/Partition Table
  43. Infector, as well as a floppy boot sector infector.  It is known to
  44. cause problems with any High Density Floppy disks that it is allowed
  45. to infect.  It also has some interesting Stealth Capabilities which
  46. make it especially fun to study.  But BE CAREFUL with it.  Once you
  47. infect a FLOPPY with my utility, that floppy WILL infect a hard
  48. disk the next time you boot-up from that floppy.  Most hard disks
  49. will show no apparent signs of infection either.  That's why you
  50. need a Recent and Reputable Scanner which you should use frequently!
