  1.               Unprotect for Mean 18 Golf EGA Version (IBM PC)
  2.             And for the Arch program included with Mean 18 Golf
  3.  
  4.                       Updated December of 1987
  5.  
  6.  BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR MEAN 18 GOLF DISK BEFORE STARTING AND USE THE
  7.  BACK UP FOR THE UNPROTECT. THIS WAY IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG THEN YOU
  8.  ARE NOT OUT A GOLF GAME..........
  9.  
  10.  First you should rename the file golf.exe to golf
  11.  
  12.      C>rename golf.exe golf
  13.  
  14.  Next Load golf into debug...
  15.  
  16.      C>debug golf
  17.  
  18.  Then Follow the sample debug session:
  19.  
  20.      -r                         :   Get the contents of the registers
  21.  
  22.                                 :   The register that is important is
  23.                                 :   CS ...
  24.                                 :   Whatever appears here you should
  25.                                 :   Now add 1000 hex to it
  26.                                 :   i.e.  30DE   plus 1000 hex = 40DE
  27.  
  28.                                 :   Be real careful here ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  29.                                 :   The new number is denoted at YYYY
  30.  
  31.  
  32.      -e YYYY:9a2e               :   Edit the contents of address YYYY:9a2e
  33.  
  34.      YYYY:9A2E  B1.             :   Should appear
  35.                                 :   If B1 does not appear.. press enter and
  36.                                 :   quit immediately.  this unprotect is
  37.                                 :   not for your version.
  38.  
  39.  Now type "EB" then press the SPACE bar.
  40.  
  41.      YYYY:9A2E  B1.eb   01.     :   Should appear
  42.                                 :   If 01 does not appear.. press enter and
  43.                                 :   quit immediately.
  44.  
  45.  Now type "AF" then press the ENTER key.
  46.  
  47.  Now write the new golf game back to the disk:
  48.  
  49.      -w  <Enter>
  50.  
  51.      Writing XXXXX bytes
  52.  
  53.  Then Quit Debug:
  54.  
  55.      -q  <Enter>
  56.  
  57.  Now it is time to rename GOLF back to GOLF.EXE
  58.  
  59.      C>ren golf golf.exe
  60.  
  61.  Now try to run the new (Hopefully) unprotected version Of Mean 18 Golf

  66.     Here is an unprotect for the Arch program on the Mean 18 golf Disk

  70.  First you should rename the file arch.exe to arch

  74.  Next Load arch into debug...

  76.      C>debug arch

  78.  Then Follow the sample debug session:

  80.      -e e9ee                    :   Edit the contents of address e9ee

  82.      XXXX:E9EE  B1.             :   Should appear
  83.                                 :   If B1 does not appear.. press enter and
  84.                                 :   quit immediately.  This is not for your
  85.                                 :   version of ARCH.EXE.
  86.  
  87.  Now type "EB" then press the SPACE bar.

  89.      XXXX:E0EE  B1.eb   01.     :   Should appear
  90.                                 :   If 01 does not appear.. press enter and
  91.                                 :   quit immediately.

  93.  Now type "AF" then press the ENTER key.

  95.  Now write the new arch game back to the disk:

  97.      -w  <Enter>
  98.  
  99.      Writing XXXX bytes

  101.  Then Quit Debug:

  103.      -q  <Enter>

  105.  Now it is time to rename ARCH back to ARCH.EXE

  107.      C>ren arch arch.exe
  108.  
  109.  Now try to run the new (Hopefully) unprotected version of ARCH
