Multi-tasking environments will perform much better if your serial (COM) port is fitted with a 16550 UART. Users at 9600+ should have their computer to modem communications set for locked port at 19,200. Do NOT expect high speed file transfers if your COM port is running at 9600! If your equipment is functioning correctly, you can expect file transfer rates of 230+ cps at 2400 and better than 930 cps at 9600.
