Multi-tasking environments such as Windows, DesqView and OS/2 will perform much better if your serial (COM) port is using a 16550 UART. Users at 9600+ should have their computer to modem communications set for locked port at 19200. Do not expect high speed file transfers if your COM port is running at 9600! If your equipment is working properly, you can expect transfer rates 230+ cps at 2400 baud and better than 930 cps at 9600 baud.
