  2. This is an English book report on "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley
  3. Frankenstein
  4.                                                                                         
  5.         The story of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is about a man who created
  6. something that messes with nature, and nature came back to mess with him
  7. because nature is more powerful than man.
  8.         Victor Frankenstein was very interested in natural philosophy and
  9. chemistry and basically tried to play G-d by creating life.  When he
  10. found the secret of activating dead flesh, he created a superhuman being
  11. composed of rotted corpses.  What he did was considered unthinkable, and
  12. he was haunted by his own creation.
  13.         When the monster escaped, Frankenstein knew that he had to deal with
  14. the consequences of what the monster might do.   Frankenstein received a
  15. letter one day which informed him of his younger brother William's
  16. murder, and immediately suspected that he was responsible, for he was
  17. the creator of the hideous monster.  A friend of the family named
  18. Justine Moritz  was the "presumed" murderer, and Frankenstein was
  19. determined to prove her innocent.  Circumstantial evidence, however, led
  20. the courts to believe Justine guilty, because found in her pocket was a
  21. photograph which had belonged to William.
  22.         Justine had been put to death, and Frankenstein had yet to find his
  23. creation.  Finally, upon their meeting, the monster confessed to his
  24. creator of what he had been through, how he was rejected by society, and
  25. finally, how he had come to kill William.  When William had revealed his
  26. name to the monster, the monster immediately figured that by killing the
  27. young boy, he would have revenge on Frankenstein for giving him life.  
  28.         The monster did not understand the concept of right and wrong and he
  29. especially didn't mean to kill anybody.   His expression of anger ended
  30. up being violent, even fatal to the victim, and it just worked out that
  31. he killed people.  
  32.         As the monster's story continued, he demanded of Frankenstein a female
  33. mate who he can be with until his end, and promised to live away from
  34. society.  Frankenstein, meanwhile, tried to restore the monster's
  35. demented mind so he could live a normal life.
  36.         Although at first Frankenstein agreed to create a friend for the
  37. monster, he changed his mind for fear that between the two of them, his
  38. life, as well as many others, would be in danger.  The creature wanted
  39. revenge, and so everything important in Frankenstein's life ended up
  40. being destroyed, including his wife and best friend.
