  4.      Folk music is pretty much the last bastion of rebellion, at least when it comes to music.  It's
  5.   an area where songs matter because they are about people lives, their surroundings and the
  6.   politics that affect them.  Often songs are stories about events and Robb Johnson is a master story
  7.   teller and song writer, he also happens to be one of the hardest working guys around.
  8.      Robb can be found out on the road in a number of guises, as a solo performer, as duo with
  9.   Pip Collings and with a full blown combo, The Johnson Collings band.  Robb has recorded material
  10.   in all his guises and has released a number of cds and cassettes on his own Irregular label.

  12.   Robb Johnson & Pip Collings, "Overnight"(IRR012) and "Heart's Desire"(IRR014), available
  13.   through ADA distribution.
  14.      Earlier this year Irregular Records teamed up with Rhiannon to release, "This Is The UK
  15.   Talking"(RHYD5002).  The album, a collection of singles, benefits, demos & favourite tracks
  16.   recorded between 1987 & 1992, really emphasises what a strong and versatile songwriter Robb is.
  17.      A lot of folk has got the reputation for being dour, but Robb picks up on the lighter side of
  18.   life and also uses humour to emphasise a good point.  "The Animals Song" comes across as a
  19.   light childrens songs until you realise that it's about the slaughter of various meat bearing beasts. 
  20.   "6B Go Swimming" is a song that's highly observational in it's outlook, whilst "The Herald Of Free
  21.   Enterprise" is poignant.
  22.      Robb has the ability to make songs matter, almost regardless of subject matter and he's
  23.   never been one to shy away from a subject just because it might be controversial, such as the Gulf
  24.   War.
  25.      Irregular & Rhiannon have teamed up again to release Robb's new album "Lack Of Jolly
  26.   Ploughboy"(RHYD5004) which once again features tracks that range across the political and
  27.   personal as well as sport with the song "Uncle Cyril", which includes the refrain, "If You Can't Get
  28.   The Man Get The Ball".
  29.      Folk is a living tradation and beating away at it's heart is the multi faceted Robb Johnson.

  31.   Dmension"
