  1. This my grandma Jenny's Banana Cake receipe, though it comes out a lot 
  2. more like a really moist banana bread than cake.

  4. Grandma Jenny Bernstein's Banana Cake

  7. 1/2 cup soft butter
  8. 1 1/4 cup sugar
  9. 2 eggs
  10. 1 tsp. vanilla
  11. 1 tsp baking soda
  12. 1/4 cup sour cream; (you can substitute plain or vanilla yogurt)
  13. 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  14. 1 1/2 cup flour
  15. 1 tsp baking powder
  16.  
  17. Beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.  Dissolve 
  18. baking soda in milk.  Add to batter and beat well.  Add bananas alternating
  19. ingredients.  Mix just until blended.  Pour into a prepared 9" square pan
  20. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 mins.

  22. Alternative: Add 1 cup of chocolate chips to the batter just before
  23.              pouring into the prepared pan.  If you add it too soon, the 
  24.              chips all sink to the bottom.
