What is it?
============
DWGPATHS is a DOS based program used to modify the file paths stored within
AutoCAD drawing files. DWGPATHS may be used to change the hard coded paths
contained within a single drawing, or in a group of drawing files.
How do you use it?
==================
DWGPATHS <filename> /R|/A|/I
The /R is "resetmode". This changes the default menu to ACAD, and strips
out any hardcoded paths in the fonts. It will prompt for each XREF, allowing
you to specify a new path and file name for each one.
The /A is "automatic". This mode automatically changes the default menu to
ACAD, and strips out any hardcoded paths in the fonts and any XREF's contained
in the drawing. It does not prompt for any paths.
The /I is "interactive". This mode prompts for the menu name to use, and then
prompts for each font with a hard coded path, and finally for each XREF.
DWGPATHS modifies the <filename>.DWG file and creates a <filename>.BK1 file
as a backup (overwriting any exiting file with the same name). If you
are happy with the results, you can delete the .BK1 file after processing.
Known limitations
=================
One known limitation of DWGPATHS is that it doesn't automatically handle
nested Xrefs. If you have drawings which contain nested Xrefs, you will have
to process each nested Xref individually. If you need the ability to display
the names of all nested Xrefs, take a look at another program of mine called
SHOWREFS (SHREFS.ZIP in Lib 10 in the ACAD forum).
Registration
============
DWGPATHS is a shareware program. If you find it useful, please pay for it by
printing out and filling in the enclosed registration form and sending a
check or money order drawn on a U.S. bank to the address listed at the bottom
of the registration form. Please feel free to give DWGPATHS to other AutoCAD
users. If you have any problems or suggestions concerning DWGPATHS, please
email them to me via Compuserve at 72711,3404.
