  1. The  following  introduction of file #6471 CPMSCR-C.LBR  is  for  your 
  2. information.   The file contains about 90 different sources  for  CP/M 
  3. software  (and some hardware) for CP/M users.  It is one of  the  most 
  4. complete  listings that I have ever seen!!  Due to the large  size  of 
  5. the file, I could not do it justice by editing and chopping, and since 
  6. it  almost  equals the size of the PIP Magazine, did  not  include  it 
  7. here.   So rush on over to page 685;3, select all Libraries,  and  D/L

  17.     Why A CP/M Software Vendors List?
  18.  
  19.         Today, media  coverage  of  topics  of  interest  to  the  CP/M     
  20.     computer  owner  has dwindled to the point of almost non-existence,     
  21.     and the  number  of  computer  magazines  that  offer  any  regular     
  22.     coverage of CP/M can almost be counted on one hand.  As a result, a     
  23.     company or vendor that still has  CP/M  software  for  sale  cannot     
  24.     justify  advertising  its products since the potential market is so     
  25.     diffused.  This list is an attempt to provide  a  reference  source     
  26.     for  CP/M users to consult; so they can know who is still supplying     
  27.     software for CP/M and what software is available.

  29.         This list, produced by the CP/M  SIG  of  the  Pittsburgh  Area     
  30.     Computer  Club (PACC), is based on a listing released previously by     
  31.     others, but has been greatly expanded.  While this list is far from     
  32.     a  complete  listing  of  all  companies,  vendors, and user groups     
  33.     offering software for use on CP/M, it is hoped that it will  become     
  34.     a major reference source for all CP/M users.  It is also hoped that     
  35.     this list will continue to expand and will be maintained in such  a     
  36.     manner  that it can be re-released periodically on either an annual     
  37.     or semi-annual basis.   Lastly, while every effort has been made to  
  38.     verify the information contained in this list, the CP/M SIG of PACC 
  39.     cannot be held responsible for errors in  the  list,  nor  can  any 
  40.     guarantees  be made on the continued availability or suitability of 
  41.     the software described in the listing.

  43.     How To Use This List.
  44.  
  45.         This list is divided into three sections.   The  first  section     
  46.     consists  of companies and vendors who are selling commercial  CP/M     
  47.     software  packages.  The second section consists of  companies  and     
  48.     user groups who are selling public domain software for use on CP/M.      
  49.     The  third  section consists of Z-Nodes that also sell  other  CP/M 
  50.     products  in  addition  to  selling  proprietary Z-System software. 
  51.     (A  Z-Nodes is a remote access computer system (RAS), which can  be 
  52.     accessed  by  the public though the use of a  modem.   All  Z-Nodes 
  53.     allow  for the downloading of both CP/M and Z-System public  domain 
  54.     software.  Also Z-System or CP/M proprietary software may be  down-
  55.     loaded from those Z-Nodes that are selling it).

  58.         Entries  in  each section are organized alphabetically  by  the 
  59.     name of the company, vendor, or user group.  Besides the name, each 
  60.     entry in the list also includes the mailing address, and  telephone 
  61.     number(s).   A  brief description  is  included  of  what  software 
  62.     packages  or  services  are offered.  The  availability  of  either 
  63.     brochures  or  a  catalog about the  products   is  also  included.  
  64.     Prices,  if  given, are suggested retail and are not based  on  any 
  65.     discounts  or special  sales.   Also noted is the  availability  of 
  66.     the  software for use in other operating environments such as  DOS, 
  67.     CP/M-86, CP/M Plus (version 3.0), etc.  Finally,  a date  is  given  
  68.     for when  the  information was last verified.

  90.     compiled the original list (CPMSRC-A.LST).  Without his/her efforts     
  91.     this revised list would have been much smaller.  If anyone knows of     
  92.     a new source for CP/M software or books on CP/M, I would appreciate     
  93.     a  message  listing  name,  address, phone number and what they are     
  94.     offering for sale left as a message on one of the  following  BBS's
