This football season, like most of the others in recent years, wasn't going very well for the Jefferson Davis High School Panthers in Houston, Texas.
They had lost 80 straight games. So, the prospects were not good as the squad got ready for a weekend clash with crosstown rival Wheatly High.
Davis led at the half but by the fourth quarter, Wheatly had surged ahead 18 to 13. Then it happened...a Panther touchdown heard across Texas. The Lone Star Losers were losers no more, defeating Wheatly 20 to 18.
