"I can't let this ruin me," Harding said in a taped interview that can be seen tonight (10 ET) on CBS' Eye to Eye with Connie Chung.
"I've worked too hard, too long - 20 years."
Harding also told Inside Edition she wants to win a gold medal so she can "hang it on my wall forever."
Harding, under investigation but not charged in the Jan. 6 assault on teammate Nancy Kerrigan, said she will tell Kerrigan she's sorry for what happened and that she will give her a hug, "if she'll let me. Hopefully, she'll forgive me for all this crap."
Harding told CBS she didn't go to authorities with what she knew after the attack because she was "afraid of being hurt by people."
Harding said she doesn't love ex-husband Jeff Gillooly, who pleaded guilty in the case and has implicated her, because he hasn't told the truth. "There was one time he said he would break my legs so I couldn't do anything."
