  1. TITLE:   Manuscript Columns Do Not Import Into a Table

  5. PROBLEM: 
  6.  
  7. Text in Manuscript columns or tables imports into Ami Pro without creating a 
  8. table.  There are tabs between the columns of text.  A tab ruler with 
  9. appropriate tabs is not created.  Existing tabs in the Ami Pro document are 
  10. used which may not match the widths of the Manuscript columns.  If there are 
  11. no tabs in the Ami Pro document, the text from Manuscript columns or tables 
  12. will align at the left margin.

  14. SOLUTION:

  16. An enhanced Manuscript filter (MSCRIPT.FLT size 43056, dated 11-21-91) is 
  17. available which will automatically create a table for text in Manuscript 
  18. columns or tables.  Because of the difference in column width calculation 
  19. between Manuscript and Ami Pro (Ami Pro uses a smaller unit of measure to 
  20. specify column widths in tables), it may be necessary to adjust the Ami Pro 
  21. table column widths to accurately match the original Manuscript columns or 
  22. table.  Any graphics in columns will not automatically import, but these 
  23. graphics files can be imported into the appropriate Ami Pro table cell after 
  24. the Manuscript file is imported.

  26. Contact the Lotus Development Corporation Word Processing Division Customer 
  27. Service Department at 404-256-2272 and request the Ami Pro release 2.0 filters 
  28. disk.  This disk contains all of the most current filters for Ami Pro release 
  29. 2.0.  The latest filters for Ami Pro 2.0 are also available electronically 
  30. from the Lotus WPD bulletin board at 404-851-1371 and from library 2 Ami and 
  31. Ami Pro on the LotusWP CompuServe forum.  Download the file FILT20.EXE from 
  32. either location.

  34. HOW TO INSTALL THE UPDATED FILTERS
  35.  
  36.  1. From the Windows Program Manager, run File Manager (there is usually an 
  37.     icon in one of the Windows program groups for the File Manager).
  38.  2. In File Manager, access the drive where the updated filter files are 
  39.     located.  For example, if the files are on a disk in drive A, select the A 
  40.     drive icon.
  41.  3. Select all of the filter file names (they will have an extension of 
  42. .FLT).
  43.  4. Choose File / Copy.
  44.  5. For the To option, type the complete path to the Ami Pro program directory 
  45.     (this is usually C:\AMIPRO).
  46.  6. Choose COPY.
  47.  7. Press ALT + F4 to close File Manager, then choose OK.

  49. HOW TO ADJUST TABLE COLUMN WIDTHS
  50.  
  51.  1. Place the insertion point in the column that you want to adjust.
  52.  2. Choose Table / Column/Row Size.
  53.  3. For the Width option, specify the desired amount.
  54.  4. Choose OK.
  55.  5. Repeat Steps 1-4 for each table column that needs to be changed.

  57. MOUSE SHORTCUT: With a mouse you can adjust column widths by dragging the 
  58. column gridlines to the desired positions.

  60. HOW TO IMPORT GRAPHICS INTO A TABLE
  61.  1. Place the insertion point in the cell which should contain the graphic 
  62.     image.
  63.  2. Choose File / Import Picture.
  64.  3. Specify the graphics format in the File Type list box (this will probably 
  65.     be either CGM or PIC).
  66.  4. Use the Files, Directories, and Drives list boxes to locate the graphics 
  67.     file name.
  68.  5. Choose OK.

  70. NOTE: If you import a picture into a cell that contains data, the data is 
  71. overwritten.
