  1. TITLE:   New Wave Templates Configured for HP DeskJet
  2. PRODUCT: Ami Pro 2.0

  7. Opening an Ami Pro object results in the message "The printer driver 'HP 
  8. DeskJet' is not installed on this machine.  Using the default printer" 
  9. appears.  How can this message be eliminated?
  10.  
  11. SOLUTION: 
  12.  
  13. The template files which are used to configure Ami Pro style sheets when Ami 
  14. Pro is being used with New Wave are configured for the HP DeskJet printer.  
  15. Each time an Ami Pro object is created, the object will be configured for the 
  16. HP DeskJet printer.
  17.  
  18. The above informational message indicates that the HP DeskJet is not installed 
  19. on you system.  In order to permanently eliminate the message it will be 
  20. necessary to reconfigure the Ami Pro templates to a printer that is available 
  21. in Windows.  A macro named CHANGE.SMM which will automate this procedure is 
  22. available from Lotus.  The macro is available electronically from the Lotus 
  23. Word Processing Division bulletin board, 404-851-1371, and from library 3 Ami 
  24. Pro macros on the LotusWP CompuServe forum.  Download the file NWCHAN.ZIP from 
  25. either location.  The file can be obtained on disk by calling the Lotus WPD 
  26. Customer Service Department at 404-256-2272.  Request the macro CHANGE.SMM.

  28. HOW TO INSTALL AND USE THE MACRO
  29.  
  30.   1. From the New Wave Office press CTRL + ESC to access the Windows Task 
  31.      List.
  32.   2. Select Program Manager and choose Switch To.
  33.   3. From the Windows Program Manager run File Manager (there is usually an 
  34.      icon in one of the Windows program groups for the File Manager).
  35.   4. In File Manager access the drive where the CHANGE.SMM macro file is 
  36.      located.  For example, if the file is on a disk in drive A, select the A 
  37.      drive icon.
  38.   5. Select the file name CHANGE.SMM.
  39.   6. Choose File / Copy.
  40.   7. For the To option, type the complete path to the Ami Pro macros directory 
  41.      (this is usually C:\HPNWPROG\AMIPRO\MACROS).
  42.   8. Choose COPY.
  43.   9. If you have already copied the files AMI*.* from the HPNWPROG directory 
  44.      to the Ami Pro directory so that Ami Pro can run as a Windows 
  45.      application, go to Step 10.  Otherwise, follow the steps below:
  46.      a. In Windows File Manager access the HPNWPROG directory (this is usually 
  47.         located at C:\HPNWPROG).
  48.      b. Choose View / Include.
  49.      c. For the Name option, type AMI*.*.
  50.      d. Choose OK.
  51.      e. Select all files in the view.
  52.      f. Choose File / Copy.
  53.      g. For the To option, type the complete path to the location of the Ami 
  54.         Pro program files (this is usually C:\HPNWPROG\AMIPRO).
  55.      h. Choose COPY.
  56.  10. Press ALT + F4 to close File Manager, then choose OK.
  57.  11. At the Windows Program Manager, run the Control Panel (there is usually 
  58.      an icon in one of the program groups for the Control Panel).
  59.  12. At the Control Panel run the Printers icon.
  60.  13. Make the printer that you want the Ami Pro style sheets to use the 
  61.      default printer by double clicking on the printer name (select the 
  62.      printer name and press ALT + D without a mouse).
  63.  14. Choose OK.
  64.  15. Press ALT + F4 to close the Control Panel.
  65.  16. At the Windows Program Manager choose File / Run.
  66.  17. For the Command Line option, type X:\PATH\DIRNAME\AMIPRO.EXE and choose 
  67.      OK.  X:\PATH\DIRNAME should be the complete path to the Ami Pro program 
  68.      directory (this is usually C:\HPNWPROG\AMIPRO).  NOTE: The CHANGE.SMM 
  69.      macro must be run while Ami Pro is loaded under Windows and not New 
  70. Wave.
  71.  18. In Ami Pro choose Tools / Macros / Playback.
  72.  19. Select the macro name CHANGE.SMM and choose OK.
  73.  20. The macro will display a path to the location that is believed to contain 
  74.      the Ami Pro template files.  If the location is incorrect, choose No and 
  75.      specify the correct path.  Once the template files are located, the macro 
  76.      changes the printer for each template to the default printer.
  77.  21. Exit Ami Pro by pressing ALT + F4.
  78.  22. In the Windows Program Manager press CTRL + ESC to open the Task List.
  79.  23. Select New Wave Office in the Task List.
  80.  24. Choose Switch To.
  81.  25. In the New Wave Office press CTRL + ALT + X.
  82.  26. Choose Settings / Installation.
  83.  27. Select the path to the Ami Pro program files (this is usually 
  84.      C:\HPNWPROG\AMIPRO) and choose OK.
  85.  28. Select the file name AMIPRO1.IN$ and choose OK.
  86.  29. Repeat Steps 25-28 except select the file name AMIPRO2.IN$ in Step 28.
  87.  30. New Wave now reinstalls Ami Pro for New Wave.  Each style sheet will now 
  88.      use your default printer and the message indicating that the HP DeskJet 
  89.      printer is not installed no longer appears opening Ami Pro objects.
